    Why do you care about the rarity of an A&G Magnum though, for example?

    Why is there value associated with something like that, which is higher than the value of the same amount of A&G in smaller quantities?

    A&G isn't exactly hard to come by. But who cares about Magnums?

    The only reason I have seen people care is for parties. Rarer, yes, but there has to be a reason to care. Conspicuous consumption is the only one I have seen.

    The original question was about pricing, the Veil does not price these magnums higher for the consumers trade value.

    My mistake - my response to you was off in regards to the original question.

    I always assumed it had to do with the frustrations associated with filling magnums and the premium associated with not being able to buy in bulk the same way you can other products that breweries are using. I.e. at least a part of it is due to the inflated costs, but not all. No doubt you are being charged for - as you said - the novelty.

    Someone brought this up in the IG comments recently, Veil’s response was basically: the magnums bottles are more expensive and difficult to fill, they aren’t trying to fool you with tricky math, nobody is forcing anyone to buy a magnum, but some people buy them because they think they’re cool things and they like them.

    I wouldn’t buy a magnum, but I do buy things that would make a lot of people scratch their heads ($18 bottles of beer to begin with).

    I've seen Veil post something similar to what they said recently when they first started offering them. I can see how a 1.5L is more appealing to some folks for certain situations than having 3 500ml bottles, even at a markup.

    Personally I'd worry about dropping the extra coin on it. All of the 3L Magnums of Starve B they were going to auction at FS (no raffle this year, only silent auctions) were "defective". They pulled them from the raffle tables and quietly poured them in each session.

    For those other fellow 757’ers, they announced they are officially opening up a brewpub in Norfolk in the Spring.

    It's True! The Veil Brewing Co. is coming to Norfolk, VA!

    With some cooperation from the city of Norfolk, we hope to open a modern brewpub in the new and upcoming Railroad District of Norfolk in late Spring of 2019. Our new space will be located at 2314 Colonial Ave in the former Norfolk Chophouse House location. Before we can open our doors, we're planning a preview of what is to come. We'll be popping up in the new spot Enjoy: a new space dedicated to the joy of creative exploration, hosting curated experiences in food, art, and culture right on Granby Street. For three days straight we'll be pouring our beer(including some super special kegs) along with guest beers from our friends Trillium, Monkish and Other Half. We plan to have at least one cider available and a few wines also. Ian Hock of Codex will be the chef of our future, new location and will be giving a sneak peak of the new menu coming to The Veil Brewing Co. NRFK. We also will have limited glassware and t-shirts made exclusively for this event. *WE WILL NOT BE SELLING CANS OR BOTTLES TO GO AT THIS PREVIEW*

    Join us at Enjoy: 429 Granby Street, Norfolk, VA

    * Friday November 2nd 5p-10p
    * Saturday November 3rd 12p-10p
    * Sunday November 4th 12p-6p

    We're so stoked and hope you can come hang with us!

    Plentiful these days. Cans/bottles are carrying over from week to week. Including the 4 new cans releasing today that are 16 cans/bottles available. Even the new releases each week have been no limit recently so you definitely should not have an issue. They update their website daily. Check it out again this weekend so you know what to expect. http://www.theveilbrewing.com/taproom/

    I think it's a combination of both. I recall they posted about adding new tanks 5 or 6 months ago. Maybe it was a whole new brewhouse?? They are definitely producing more which is leading higher case counts thus each batch of a lot of things moving more slowly. The fact that they also stopped announcing case counts a long time ago as well as No Limit on new releases also tells me they are just not selling through product as quickly as they were a a year.

    I don't think this is a bad thing. I think somewhere on this thread a year or so ago I was saying how happy I'd be if Veil releases were more like Trillium where you could walk in on any given day and grab cans to go. Maybe a limited bottle or collab might create a line and you might miss it, fine, but generally speaking I greatly prefer this situation to having to be there at 4PM on a Tuesday to get the cans I'd want.

    The only thing we know for sure is they are producing more. They could very well be selling more beer than ever and we'd have no way to know. I don't fault them for this. They don't need to drop case counts when they're releasing "plenty". The last time they announced a count on White Ferrari is was 400 cases. Prior to the increased capacity I believe the most they'd dropped of any beer was ~220 cases. I do feel like they stopped doing case counts/variable limits a bit early (and I complained then) but now there's no need. They do still release counts for limited things like Starve B.

    Knowing nothing about Veil itself, I can speak to human behavior:

    If the quantity is such that with some hype beers sell out quickly, then they are going to sell out quickly. If you want it anytime before the next release, you have to go. Even with hype - if quantity available increases, people know that they don't have to stand in line to get it - or even go up TODAY or TOMORROW to get it - and so they won't.

    That is at least I am sure part of this. When you have to get it today in order to try it before the next time it is brewed, you'll get it today because you can drink it over the next month, trade it, or whatever. But if there's some always available, what's the rush?

    It’s an increase in production and there’s a ton of great beer right now in Richmond (Triple Crossing, Veil and Hardywood, etc.).

    It’s great though, especially for anyone a couple hours away. I’m able to make the occasional trip, pick between various brands, check reviews and skip lines. The only issue is leaving Richmond without spending a ton of money.

    Dirt Dirt Nap Nap has been one of the few recent Veil IPAs that I really liked, and the online chatter is that Dirt Nap cubed is really good, but man $21/4-pk is hard to swallow. Releasing 4 $19+ cans seems like an odd move considering how slow they seem to be moving cans in general.
