Thanks for the advice. We'd be going there on a Tuesday night. Still really crowded, or just after a certain time?

From my experience, pretty much always crowded...

Self service on grabbing an open table (aka stalking) or do they have a host of some sort keeping a list?

Haven't been in a while, so I can't help with that. Someone better informed will have to chime in.

I would definitely not take kids to DDC. Place is tiny, not comfortable for kids. Vices Versa seems like an OK kid spot, good food and beer options.

I've never seen a host except on event days like Péché day?

Thanks to everyone who contributed to this thread! I'm headed to Montreal in about 10 days to try my favourite beer from the source (Péché Mortel) and other good local stuff. Any timely releases or events I should note?
    Thanks again,

I’ll be in Montreal next week... I see there anything new I should be aware of?

When was the last time you were here?

Huh, 2009... but by new I was really meaning new releases. But suggestions of 'new' spots would be good too!

Any chance I would find any fresh IPA Du Nord-Est, Double Descente (I can't believe I'm now asking about Boreale now), Super A or Nordet IPA.

Really any Auval, or a la Fut as well.

Auval is highly unlikely. À la fût should be easily found. Boreale sent out a bunch of both last week and have been doing it relatively frequently so you never know... MaBrasserie, Isle de garde and the new Peluso store (on Beaubien) are all worth stopping and in walkable distance of each other.

As far as NEIPAs in the same vein as Boreale and Auval, Brasserie du Bas Canada makes some pretty good ones and distributes to MTL at least a couple times a month. And all the Dunham you come across is well worth checking out (although I imagine you get some of their stuff in BC).

Does no one like Station Ho.St? I know they're not the greatest, and eclipsed by Dieu du Ciel, but damn, I liked what they were doing just a few years ago. What gives? Am I off base?

I had forgot about Hopfenstark, I’ve liked their stuff in the past... should probably check them out!

I see it’s DDC’s 20th anniversary on Saturday. Unfortunately I won’t be in until Sunday night. Do you think they’ll have much leftover? (I’d like to try some Vermont stuff!)

There might be DDC stuff leftover, but I doubt there'll still be VT beers. In a way you're dodging a bullet, the bar is god-awful at events like that cause it is too small and they never quite seem prepared for the influx of people.

Had some beers from Albion Brewery at Foeder Unis recently. They were the big surprise of the festival for me. A bit east and out of the way... but seek them out!
