Chicagoland NE IPAs (2018)

No, it is not a NE style. But it did see very small distribution in the first run (or at least I saw it on one store shelf).

Its one of the single best new beers they've put out recently, so I'm excited its back.

 

Yes Hazy and was DOJO only

 

Not hazy and not that good. Didn't get the hype. Not a ton of galaxy, just a boring but clean ipa. Lizard King is way better. So was beast mode.

 

I enjoyed Infinite Galaxy, just a solid IPA.

That being said since they are canning a bunch of new brews, I'd love for some fish and ninja brews in cans soon........bomber IPA's tough to buy anymore.

That's right. I think there was a C&D involved, possibly from Minhas? So they wiped the name completely to comply

 

I'm with @mbockstruck30 I thought Infinite Galaxy was one of their best releases in a while. The clean IPA description is fair, but I thought the galaxy really popped on flavor/aroma. Definitely excited to see it back and will happily grab a four pack or two.

But for the record it isn't hazy, so I shouldn't be discussing it here.

 

Glad to hear it's good. I missed the mention in this thread and grabbed it on a whim, figuring a collab w/ the yeast company might make it interesting.

 

Reminds me of some of the Noon Whistle NEIPAs. Pretty good, but a little thin and less hop burn/bite than I prefer in my beers. Looks the part and has a fantastic aroma when you pop the can.

 

The summer of Pipeworks hazy beers. VoL, King of Borgs, and Superpremium Hypster were my favorite beers of the summer.

 

I was very pleasantly surprised by Brickstone Triple H: great soft mouthfeel, juicy orange & peach flavors & enough dryness (not bitterness) to add ballast.

I thought Haz'd Juice was just OK, but I'd definitely buy Triple H again. Even with the dumb name and their usual god-awful can art.

 

And 12oz cans! The novelty!

 

Why aren’t people talking about Hop Haida? Pretty good.

 

I can only speak for myself, but I've never had any beer from Energy City...I've never even seen them in stores.

 

So, Goose Island has a "tropical IPA" called Paper Umbrella...and it tastes like watery suntan lotion.

NE IPA fiends of Chicago, take a hard pass on this one!!

 

If you happen to live north, Beer on Central in Evanston has both the Nawi and Haida and sells singles if that’s your style too.

Today I grabbed a mixed 4 of The Yuice, Citra Citra Citra, HC single hop Simcoe, and Ghost Tropic.

looks like the next haze from brickstone dropped yesterday at binnys STC and glen elyn. will swing by and try and grab some after work.

 

But is it $3 more a 4 pack better than anything in the city?
