Short's Brewing Releases & Updates (2018)

Ah, biscuits.

 

So damn near a year ago to the day an image and hashtag #CANpagne showed up on Short's Twitter feed with no other info forthcoming.

Until today, that is.

Short's Mart and Pull Barn for this bad boy if you're curious. Not a fan of wine or cider myself, but if the price is right and I'm passing through I got relatives who might enjoy it

 

I agree with this - I was hoping for way more salt and cherry and it lacked in both. It's just kind of a normal sour with lemon. Bit of a missed opportunity on their part.

 

Hey, all. Here's some fun stuff while we're waiting for the next release (Mighty Shorse) to be announced. Also, if you wouldn't mind joining me in harassing SBC to make the October TBD release Evil Urges, I'd appreciate it!

Anyway, looks like Slurm Lord has a slightly different label. Maybe?



Here's two that aren't in the portfolio. Maybe they're candidates for the next variety pack?





Lastly, here's one I can get behind. I loved Totally Noche and lime is a nice addition. Maybe it's another one for variety pack V.4?



With MMB, this one, and Mule Beer coming up Short's is making sure there's no scurvy amongst us drinkers.

Sorry, but this made me laugh.

What you could do is wait for the PGGB release, more likely than not places will still have Shorse available. While you're here, pick up some Dragonmead, Roak, Kuhnhenn, Griffin Claw, OddSide, Right Brain, or Greenbush to take back with you. Really make it a Michigan beer run. All you gotta do is make it to Monroe and you're golden.

Mighty Shorse is great. The peach is light but definitely present. Only 7.8, without the usual super bitterness of Shorts (which I love too). A perfect late lazy summer beer. Gonna get a case.

 

On vacation in the area and saw the shorts facility in elk rapids. No one there yet. We have a dog with us. Is the bellaire location dog friendly. Is one location better than the other for trying some samples and maybe getting some stuff to take home?

 

I looked at the Short's website and found a FAQ that says the Pull Barn is dog friendly as long as Fido is on a leash. No info about the pub though.

I think both places have essentially the same beer offerings, although I'm certain that I've seen comments in these threads about the occasional 'special' beer being at only one place or the other.

 

Thanks. Pull barn was still empty after our walk in elk rapids and the area parks so went to bellaire. Was a good choice. Dogs allowed on the paitio with a little access gate near the front door. Was able to get some samplers of stuff I normally wouldn’t order. Wasn’t a clunker in the bunch.

 

Spruce Pilsner is bottled! And going in Variety pack 4.0! My favorite beer of all time.

 

I would be super excited too if Spruce was not surrounded by three other beers I do not want. Variety Packs are like satellite/cable packages. You buy a bunch of stuff you don’t really want to get the one thing you do want.

 

Hey, all! Nothing too exciting here, just the announcement that Huma and Soft Parade have gotten/are getting a refreshed look.



I've seen the new Huma labels in stores for the past month (maybe?) and it's pretty attractive, like the Bellaire Brown and Local's refresh. The Soft Parade looks... OK. The background color is off-putting to me.

So that's it for the year-round lineup, since Space Rock was just introduced in 2015 I can't see it needing a refresh. (Although between you and me a refreshed Pandemonium would be a welcome addition. It's last release in a variety pack reminded me of how much I missed it).
