I think 3 is a good move. However, I don't understand when people freak out about equal treatment like the party in question is the government or something. They're a business. They have regulars. I expect them to take care of those that take care of them. They have no stake in some sort of grand equal distribution of the product, just making sound business decisions.

Sure, if they give it all to a couple of people, that's kind of a dick move, but if I heard they gave some loyal customers 6 each, I'm not going to throw an indignant, righteous, super-entitled fit.

I didn't see anyone get more than 3 last night. Even if they did though, that's Petrol's call.

I'm not mad they took care of regulars - That's business, I understand that fully...I woulda did the same.

I'm bitching because... Why even tell folks to come line up at 5pm when the stuff was gone long before that. That's wasting people's time and to me that's a dick move, If I'm missing something let me know.

It's cool they randomly got another 5 cases in around 6pm but to tell folks "Hey at 5 pm we'll have it!" then then sell it all before then? - Not cool.

 

I didn't mean to imply anyone here was being like that, more-so the people I heard bitching in person yesterday. That emphasis wasn't "not you, but the last guy", more of a "hey man, I'm really not saying you are acting like that."

There was a huge line at 4:45 though. Why make us all wait outside until 5? It wouldn't have changed who got bottles, it's not like their friends all came and took it before they opened. It was all the public that lined up in time. Them selling out before 5 is just a comment on how many people wanted this and got there early.

I've seen both Whip In and Dig Pub (Cedar Park) post that they have it, but they also both said that they are selling it for in-house consumption only - no walk outs.

 

Good news, Hay Merchant is selling for $6 a bottle. That is awesome and I applaud them!

I wish I could have gotten it for that, but won't complain because I was lucky to have gotten them. As bad as Petrol was last night, I fear this will be worse.

Also, Stags head will be consume on property as they are a full service bar.

I know, one beer was cheaper at Hay Merchant than Petrol Station, it must be cheaper across the board by now...

Oh wait, look at most any other beer and the food*... *food quality is in the mouth of the beholder

Not really excited for this, really.

 

Not going to argue that draft and food prices are generally higher at Hay Merchant since that is true, but charging $4 more on an already overpriced beer is a dick move. They saw the insane demand and just decided to charge whatever they felt like. I know the Saucer charged $10 too but they always have a markup for bottle beer so it makes sense.

 

Perhaps Haymerchant ordered more and got a bulk/discounted price? Just wild ass speculation.

 

my girlfriend is waiting for me at hay merchant, 40 or so people in line so far.

 

Petrol marks bottles up too. Most bars do.

I will say that the fact that I only had to wait for 30 minutes (and after work to boot) at Petrol was a bonus. lol Sounds like the wait at Hay Merchant could be far longer than that. It would have also meant taking time off of work. That easily makes up for the $12 total extra I paid.

I have no problem paying extra at a bar for a beer. It was still about on par with limited release bombers from other breweries that aren't always even barrel aged.

I do give props to Hay Merchant for the low price tag though.

 

with 40 people, you should be good

If Hay Merchant is strict with limits and truly is releasing 30 cases, they can serve 240 customers. That's a pretty huge number!
