Three Chiefs Brewing - Los Angeles

Just a very fun and well run event.
Faha was nothing short of fantastic. Pours of the antiques and BA bout it were the cherry on top. Can’t wait till the are open regularly

 

Wow, all this dude checks in are pastry stouts and hazy IPAs. Hack fraud confirmed.

 

BA Boutit was average at best. Only thing I'd ever had from these guys.

These guys are the Supreme of craft beer.

 

Faha was good. Total coconut bomb without much barrel. Very thick, not sure how someone else said it was thin. I look forward to more good stuff from 3 chiefs and them figuring out how to speed up the line process. Great to have a place like this 7 minutes from my house.

 

Faha was up there with the best coconut stouts I've ever had. There was next to no barrel presence (kinda like Angry Chair BA stuff) but flavor and mouthfeel was on point.

Nothing is worth the shit show, but the beer is for real.

 

Speed up the line process??? How fucking long could it take to get 100 people through a cash only 1pp line?

The comments here are awful lol. Faha is a great stout, the first few sips I had of it I was instantly reminded of Monster Tones. Like people said it is bursting with coconut flavors, has floaties, and is pretty thick. It doesn't have much barrel character though, only being aged for 4 to 5 months. Doesn't make it a bad beer because it wasn't aged extensively. This is, from Charles' mouth (the head brewer), that Faha is Antique Coco v2, and we all know that that beer is pretty well received. For everybody shitting on people waiting in line, you don't have to do it if you don't want to. A majority of waiting in line is meeting cool people, sharing beers, and kicking back, and making friends. The release was fun. Sure things could have been handled better, but it's a relatively new brewery. Unless you know who Charles is, you wouldn't know he had a cult following for many years brewing underground and taking his stouts to events like Woodstock. If you think he is just coming out of nowhere you are dead wrong. Believe it or not, it is a good beer, and sure, Cali people try to hype it up but for good reason. Same as all the Jwake boys, AC boys, Toppling Goliath boys hype up their beer. They all start somewhere and it is about damn time Cali gets some good stouts. Just sit back and wait. You don't have to agree with the tactics, but let the beer speak for itself before saying it isn't good.

Do you mean sharing beer in public where I can get arrested? A cult following doesn’t make me want to wait in line for 30 mins, let alone 12+ hours. I don’t doubt the beer is good, but I want to see some consistency first.
Floaties of the adjunct aren’t a good thing to me. I also don’t give a crap about the hype game. Which is why I haven’t had any toppling Goliath, AC. I did go to jwakefield, and thought some beers were average and some good, not great.

 

Lol, I even said if you don't want to line up you don't have to. I could care less what you do with your time, and you shouldn't care what I chose to do with mine. It doesn't change your life one way or another. As for your JWB experience, cool. They have good beers and not so good beers, everybody is that way. Glad you don't care about the hype. Keep it that way, it is ruining the hobby.

My only suggestions to 3 Chiefs: less barrel time, more candy floating in my beer, and maybe a more limited run next time... Instead of 100 bottles, why not 10?

What part of "if you don't want to stand in line (and whatever risk that entails if you're sharing beers) then don't go" did you not understand?

I personally will give these guys a chance, eventually. I was planning on going Sat until it began to look like an implementing shit show. Since most of here have attended more then our share of shit shows and have continuous access to great beer, we are content to pass on over hyped situations and beers until the hype starts to dissipate a bit. If their beer is as good as you claim, we will all get around to trying it.

I'm just saying that Faha is a very good stout. Maybe I should have said "and it is about damn time Cali gets more some good stouts." Modern Times has been putting out solid stuff for a minute, but are still underrated in trades outside of MTV, Monster Tones, and a few others. Good for you not going to the release. And I hope you do get to try it in the future. Cheers.
