Founders beer releases

Got a Cadre postcard today. CBS is going to be the final Barrel Aged Series release this year. Just in case that hasn't been noted on here.

 

I saw the mountain in the background and was hopeful for a moment until I realized it was the CBS horse. Oh well, maybe next year.

 

Dreams of BA FIS in 2018 were just that, dreams. sigh.

 

Hell, I just dream of "regular" Imperial Stout. Miss that one.

 

No way they’re putting this much behind another standard release of CBS, there’s gotta be more to it.

I don’t feel excited for another CBS. Maybe I just fon’t want to drive 2.5 hoirs to Grand Rapids this December. Or maybe its just that I have bottles of last year’s. Or maybe its just that I am still busy hoarding Better Half.

 

Any Northeast Ohio Curmudgeon Better Half sightings? Not only haven’t I seen any, no one at Warehouse Beverage, Wine Spot or Heinens has even given me a delivery date.

 

Sending 20 cent postcards to people on their mailing list?

 

I did not think Better half was that great. Honestly, gave me heart burn and beer never does. Planning to throw my other 3 in the cellar for a bit and try one every 6 months or so.

 

Hold your horses... this isn’t guaranteed to be CBS. The Mountie being off is a clue. I’m thinking Black Biscuit (is that the name of the horse?) or a CBS variant. Releasing CBS 2 years in a row would be unusual. Plus it didn’t land with as much hype as they expected last year.

 

As someone who rides the hype train on occasion, this is the sad state of affairs in the craft beer world.

 

Okay, let's play. For those that haven't seen it, here you go. What say you sleuthy internet beer nerds? I spy with my little eye, a black saddle (instead of brown) and no mountie.

If we are going that route, how about aging it in the contents of horse testicles? I can’t be worse than Barrel Runner.

 

They haven’t pulled out the hype train for any of the experimental stuff from what I’ve seen, just returning favorites (CBS, better half). Just saying my guess is it probably won’t be another standard CBS release.

 

So the postcard says if you share it on Instagram and Twitter and get 200 shares, they'll tell you what it is. I'm sure someone has reached that by now...
