@joehill @afroskully or anyone else local - just wondering where people do their beer buying these days, given a lot of closures in recent years. Personally I either go to OH or schlep up to Gold Star or Covenhoven. I’m aware of the various Keyfoods and some overpriced delis. And if I’m at WF Gowanus then I’ll check their beer selection out - but I don’t make a special trip cos I feel like they (like most WF) have gone a little downhill beer-wise.

Just wanting to make sure I’m not missing anywhere obvious. Especially given that I’m now down on 14th street so GS/Cove even more of a pain to get to.

I shop at the food coop. I'm less wary of blowing up the spot now that it's not a reliable source for Grimm cans at $4.50 each with no limit (food coop members might be the only people who are disappointed that Grimm distro ended). Cans arent refrigerated, which is a bummer, but the prices are good and they regularly cycle through stuff like sip of sunshine, fat orange cat (and other 12% stuff) and barrier.

WF has definitely gone way downhill. I either get what I can at the coop or single 4 packs from Grimm or OH now that you don't need to wait in line any longer.

edit to clarify for those not aware: it's only open to members who work a 2hour 45minute work slot every four weeks, so you can't just stroll in and buy beer, it's not open to the pubic

Yeah absolutely coop too. Just didn’t mention since (despite totally seeing its upside) for various reasons we didn’t pull the trigger

$8.77 bottles too no limit as well. Coop still has a killer beer selection. Been getting some singlecut, barrier, threes lately.

I've had some success with 209 Station and they keep their inventory updated online which is nice.

Ha. Also coop member here. Last week they bring up a case of Grimm Splish. Of course it’s over 2 months old. I actually said something to the stocker along the lines of how the hell do you leave a case of Grimm in the basement for that long??

I also check 209 station once in s while and grab beer from the coop, but mostly since OH has been doing so many midweek drops, I rarely buy elsewhere.

Threes café always has a nice selection and isn't too far. Brooklyn Larder has some decent selection, albeit a bit pricey. I'm lucky enough to live right around the corner from Gold Star, so that's my go-to for great selection and price.

Oh yeah Threes as well. Good shout. And yeah I’ve gone to Brooklyn Larder a few times - I feel like they used to have some gems but now not so much.

Lucky you with Gold Star. I’d probably be broke haha

So seems that short of joining the coop (unless you b******s are holding out on me!) I have everywhere covered. Man I miss Bierkraft so badly.

Brooklyn Beer and Soda for the most surprising selection of expired, hot beer might be more appealing with summer gone.

If you don't mind a bit of a walk to Fort Greene (since you're closer to Atlantic), Greene Grape has a good selection.

Also, soon enough you'll have Beer Street right near you too. They're opening a 2nd location at the 550 Vanderbilt building.

Pretty sure this was on the distributor, because it showed up in multiple places around town at the same time. Someone even asked about it on the Grimm monthly thread.

I would have thought you or @afroskully would have been able to position yourself as the “beer guy” by now. Or is it one of the actual FT employees who makes decisions like that?

The coop actually has an app that tells you produce in stock, your shift time, etc. I once asked them if they could update the beer in real time as well, since the Grimm would show up on the shelf and be gone within hours. They said that would be quite the herculean effort with all the inventory they have. @rozzom ... go do an orientation and join the cult!
