Besides @rozzom asking for advice when he already had the answers ...this thread just made me wonder where in the hell in the city you can buy a 4-pack or a sixer and not just singles at exorbitant prices.

    Ah gotcha man

Haha we did do the orientation when we moved to PS. Didn’t follow through because I know my wife was angling for me to do both of our shifts. Place seems great though. One of the guys on my bike team is a member - we all did 3 nights in the Catskills at his house up there and he bought all the food for the weekend from the coop. Couldn’t believe both the quality and the price

Hahah I know sorry guys - there were places I should have listed (but forgot) in the OP so I didn’t waste people’s time.

Maybe it’s just me, but it seems that with the rise of the direct to consumer brewery (definitely something I enjoy), the quality beer store is in decline. I love places like Goldstar and Covenhoven. But like Bierkraft they’re more of a place to drink at, grab a growler, and maybe treat yourself to a couple of spenny (but very well curated) bottles. You’d quickly bankrupt yourself trying to buy beer for a party / in any sort of quantity at any of these places.

But a lot of the bigger beer stores have closed down and WF seems to be switching its focus.

Yeah your reasons listed make sense. The tragedy is I can hardly find a sixer of any of the German Oktoberfests anywhere in NYC. I can’t be the only person in the city frustrated by this.

Ordering is done by a coordinator (coop speak for a staff member). There is a squad for recieving/stocking beer that another member of BA is on, I enjoy my shift of cutting wheels of cheese into small chunks, weighing and pricing it though, while listening to music in the basement.

There’s a bike valet squad you can join where you just park and watch peoples’ bikes for them while they shop/work!

Haha I saw those guys! Though I heard that when you first join you have to do the less desirable jobs first before getting access to the cushy stuff. That right? I always imagined that I’d be dealing with a good 6-12 months of being hazed by you and @afroskully first. “Rozzom I need to take a dump - go warm the toilet seat for me”

There are definitely good roles (squads) and bad, and the people you do your shift with can probably make your shift good/bad as well. There are wait lists for some of the shifts that might take a while to get on but I’m guessing that has more to do with timing than the nature of the work.

I started out doing inventory and it was awful and I wanted to quit the coop every time my shift rolled around. Ever since I got on a good squad I don’t mind it at all, it’s a small chore for the quality and price.

@rozzom we've discussed this before, but don't sleep on BGH. I am unsure if Mission Dolores does takeaway, but worth checking out.

I'm also on that coop tip (produce). Real talk, those .76 cent cans of Beach were the tittaaayze.

I started on receiving and quickly got on a shopping squad where i just sit as the exit worker and check receipts as people leave. It’s the most mindless shift and after a day of work and dealing with two kids, I actually look forward to sitting and doing nothing for almost 3 hrs.

Saint Gambrinus should have a nice selection and their draft list is usually pretty spot on.
