Sorry for the bump, guys. Saw another "where to drink in DFW" thread was locked and pointed here.

My wife and I will be coming in town for a week to visit my parents and for the Ohio State v. TCU game. I appreciate the comprehensive list in the original post. Was hoping to get a few recommendations on the best breweries and beer bars in the area from the locals.

We typically drink NE IPAs (know that DFW is not known for this outside of Turning Point), Stouts, Sours, berliners, hoppy west coast IPAs.

Would be very appreciative of anyone willing to take the time to help me out. Personal research can only go so far and locals always know best. Thanks in advance for the help and cheers!!

What part of the Metroplex will you be at? That information really helps localize information and will help us let you make better informed decisions.

Okay. It looks like the game may be played at AT&T Stadium in Arlington?

I don't know where your parents live but from there I can give you some recommendations.

Right across from the stadium is Bru City's second location. They are a growler bar but I've never been to this location.
Kool Keg and On Tap are growler bars 1.5 miles away in downtown Arlington. They normally have good and interesting beers.

The nearby breweries are Division and Legal Draft.

Division focuses on IPAs and Sours. They normally have some IPAs that are supposed to be juicy and may or may not be NEIPAs. The aged Sours are good but I have not been pleased with the quick soured beers here.
They sometimes have a flavored stout or two.
I personally think they have a lot of quality issues, fusel alcohols and other fermentation flaws but they are popular and most people don't notice that.

Legal Draft historically has made a lot more easy drinking beers. Good lagers and such. But I can recommend Smash and Grab which is a Citra IPA. They often have Amicus Mosaic which is the Smash and Grab DDH with Mosaic.
And their Hazeus Corpus which may or may not be hazy.
Right now they have a double IPA aged in Gin barrels which is good. 10% ABV.

Turning Point is 20 minutes (10 miles) north in Bedford. You've heard about them.

Collective Brewing Project is in Fort Worth also about 20 minutes from the stadium but 15 miles to the west. They often have milkshake Brett IPAs and everything they do is wild/sour. All of their beer that I've had tasted like rotten meat to me but most people rave about them.

There may also be recommendations in Dallas but I won't get into them unless you'll be spending time there or if you really want to drive.

Thank you for taking the time to respond.

We are going to be east of Dallas (heath), but I am open to traveling really anywhere within the DFW area. My mom doesn't drink, which results in me having a permanent designated driver.

I think we will at least do a night or two in FW, obviously Saturday in Arlington area, with the remaining time spent in Dallas.

    Appreciate your help!

Hm... Ok. So you'll be south of Rockwall. I know there are a couple of breweries out there but they are too far from me I've never tried them.

In Garland which is right across the lake from Heath is Intrinsic, Lakewood, and OHB.

I don't think OHB really has any of the beer styles you mentioned except for their basic IPA although I do like the brewery.

Lakewood is well known for Temptress, their imperial milk stout and it's variants. But I never hear people talk a lot about their IPA(s).

Intrinsic is a good brewpub with decent BBQ. I've liked the beer from there a lot but the menu is always changing. Stouts, IPAs, and Sours are all likely there.

Going down I30 into downtown Dallas then to I35 you'll be going past On Rotation, Braindead Brewing, Deep Ellum brewing, Four Corners, Texas Ale Project, Community, Peticolas, Pegasus City, and Noble Rey.

On Rotation and Braindead are two brewpubs that I would definitely recommend. I don't think On Rotation makes food but they share a building with a great pizza restaurant.
They should have IPAs, maybe even of the NE persuasion.

Then I'd recommend Peticolas. They have some of the best quality beer in the metroplex and a few IPAs and darker beers. Velvet Hammer is a strong hoppy red ale that's considered one of the best beers in the area.

Deep Ellum when I went everything was a strong IPA. Even their Belgian quad. But I understand they've had a free brewmasters so the pendulum has swung between hoppy and malty. I don't know how the taproom is now.

But based on what you're asking I don't know if I'd really recommend any of the other places.

I will say that this weekend I was at a bar that had Collective's Suspicious Delicious.

And it was a really decent sour.

So either they fixed the problem that I was getting before swearing off their beer or it's only certain beers that'll be to off for me.
