That 45 is the number of proposed breweries.

There are already 114 existing breweries in the Philly metro area:

Yeah, I grew up right around the corner and my mother lives about 5 minutes away. Will be a cool place to hit up during my visits. Had been to Shmaltz a couple times during the Thursday night trivia nights, it's a nice quiet spot. Hopefully it stays that way once it becomes SingleCut North.

Shmaltz trivia is, far and away, the best trivia in the area. I really hope Chad (dude that runs it) can keep doing it when Singlecut takes over.

Today might be the last day to join the bottle club if you’re interested. See post #15 above for link.

Looks like this is happening sooner than I thought? I guess they're opening a taproom in Catskill and while they didn't give an exact date the Intsagram post made it seem pretty imminent.

Hopefully opening up shop soon; nonetheless, these fellas will be at Wurstbar’s anniversary...

Workhorse Brewing will be “opening soon” in King of Prussia. These guys seem to have the philosophy of “Go BIG or go home”!

    Cheers!

Going to be a place called Back Barn opening in Duanesburg, NY by September. Only solely female-owned brewery in NY, which is cool enough, but she's a retired Air Force pilot too and the barn she's using for the facility dates back to the 1700s. Can't wait to check it out.

Imprint Brewing in Hatfield PA is finally having a ticketed soft-opening of their taproom this weekend (it was supposed to be back in April). No word on full time opening yet. They have just been having occasional crowler releases off their loading dock.

Is that the operation in which William Newman was supposed to be involved ? And if so, do you know if he still is ? Hard to believe it's been 35 years since I used to buy fresh beer at the Newman Brewery on Learned St., in Albany. First micro-brewery that I had ever heard of, and it turned me on to the whole craft beer concept. I'd would certainly go to Troy, to once again sip a beer that Bill Newman had a hand in making.

    ---
Seems to me that someone wanted to open up a brewery in an old church in Albany, too... but ran into opposition. Zoning issues, maybe ? I wonder whatever happened to that project ?

As far as I know, Newman is still on board with it, but news from them has been very sparse. So I may be wrong on that.

Not sure on the Albany one you mentioned, though I wouldn't be surprised if there was something that ran into zoning issues.

Newman's Albany Amber. I remember it well, one of the few things I miss from my days in Troy.

I looked it up. Goes back about 5 years. It was supposed to be called 'Raven's Head Brewery', in the old church on Ten Broeck St. Neighborhood didn't want a brewery, so they set their sights on the Cohoes Armory instead. That deal fell through, too... and then I guess they just gave up on the idea of opening a brewery.

Ohhhh that's who it was. Okay, I do remember somebody trying to open in the Cohoes Armory, and it's a shame they couldn't because they're seeing a bit of a resurgence on Remsen St and a brewery in that town would have been a nice community lynchpin.

New place in downtown Poughkeepsie just opened, called Kings Court. Stopped in over the weekend and was super impressed with their beer. The Myberry IPA is a creamy sorbet type of IPA but without being too sweet or too thick, the schwarzbier is hella drinkable and the session IPA packs in a ton of flavor.

Really nice space, too. Definitely more than worth stopping if you're in town for Plan Bee or Millhouse.

Don't know how I didn't mention this yet but there's gonna be a new spot in Schenectady by the end of the year called Frog Alley. Head brewer will be coming from Saranac, and given the small-batch stuff they've done the last few years I'm VERY excited to see what this dude does with his own spot.
