I'm sure it's good. But producing a better beer than any other stout in California for your first offering (one with no barrel presence at that)? Come on. This is why there's backlash in the thread.

You haven't had it. How would you know if there is/isn't barrel presence? You read an amount of time of aging and made an assumption?

Also, presence of barrel is not what defines a world class stout.

Neither does it being a pastry stout with "floaties."

And all the people who have tried it have admitted there's not really any presence, which makes sense considering it was barely aged. These two factors make me logically conclude that there will not be much barrel presence.

I'll reiterate, I'm sure it's good. That's not my argument.

I mean... a new brewery 5 miles from my house just put out an awesome pastry stout. I'm excited for the future. I wish more of you got to try it so we could spend more time talking about what's next instead of trying to tear them down.

This is a perfectly fine thing to be happy/excited about, and if they spend their time making good beer that's accessible instead of focusing on hype through scarcity, I may be right with you there. There's just absolutely no need to instantly push it as the world's best stout, and if you do, expect a magnifying glass on those comments.

Nobody is saying worlds best stout. Also this thread was filled with hate before anyone even posted thoughts on the beer lol

I've certainly not made this claim.

But, let's be real, its not like these guys came out of thin air either. They collabed with JWB who is already known for his hype-y pastry stouts which the current beer community seems to love - viscous and so sweet it is almost unbearable. They collabed on what is considered to be 2 of JWBs most sought after stouts. In addition to learning the Wakefield hype game, they probably also learned how to brew stouts that the beer community goes ga-ga for.

It's not like they collabed with The Dudes and people are going apeshit for them...

Little and no are not the same thing. The barrel presence is light but I am not sure that is necessarily a bad thing. I, for one, dislike BA beers that drink hot and prefer a much more muted presence personally. Take JWB's Desperado - people like it but it has waaaay too much barrel for me. I thought Faha was IWAAD Lite which is sort of what i was hoping for, to be honest.

Speaking of moving the conversation forward, what is their current situation? Is their tap room open or was last week a soft opening? What are they pouring? What are their hours?

You guys are arguing that Faha falls right in line with the hype machine fuckboy stout wet dream. My response is... that's exactly my issue?

Anyway, time for me to head out and drink some west coast IPAs. Have a good weekend, fellas.

My understanding is that the tap-room in the space (which is a co-op they share) has some of their beer on now, but the stout that was on kicked the night of the event (for obvious reasons). Probably just the hazy IPAs which I thought were good but wouldn't go out of my way for.

Apparently they've been pouring at R6/Sleepy Hollow spot - essentally, the portion of the menu with beer has their beer. Its been some IPAs and they had a stout with a couple of adjuncts.

I just saw photos of the menu... have not tried any of their offerings on tap.

You're throwing shade at a beer you never had just because you don't like the hype game they played.

I'm throwing shade at a brewery for their obvious attempts at riding my least favorite aspect of the beer community through artificial rarity.

So don't support them. Seems pretty darn easy to me.

But no, let's whine about them on the internet, commandeering the thread to shit on them.

Trying to knock a beer you've never had on merits that have nothing to do with the actual execution of the beer itself is lame AF.

I've repeatedly stated that I'm sure the beer is good. I'm not knocking the beer itself, I'm knocking the "THIS IS THE BEST STOUT EVER" responses from people who are clearly trying to inflate the hype for trade value. If you can't figure out the difference that's on you, not me.

Maybe there's a reason I struck a chord with you.

AFAIK, no one has said that in this thread.

How they choose to market their beer - artificial scarcity, blah blah blah - literally has no effect, positively or negatively, on the taste of the beer.

And, again, they didn't come out of nowhere - they collabed on two of the most sought after beers of 2018. Why wouldn't people be optimistic?

Except it's been discussed in the other nine pages of the thread. Sorry you're too lazy to take into account anything beyond the last half dozen posts.

    Goodnight.
