Several breweries in Austin make a seasonal Oktoberfest, but whether they're available to go is another question. To name a couple, Celis and Hops & Grain both have one, but I'm not sure if they're available outside the brewery.

Huh, I hadn't seen anything from Celis about an Oktoberfest just a lot about their selection of IPAs. Is it an Uncle Billy's or Pedernales branded Oktoberfest?

It's being brewed for their Oktoberfest party on the 15th. There's more info on their Facebook page.

Yes .I saw they posted about it just about 2 hours after I asked about it. Looking back on their page I can't find any others posts about it. That's good though.

It looks like Hi Sign also is having an Oktoberfest party. I assume they'll have a beer for it.

I'm drinking Legal Draft's pale festbier when I go to the brewery now. I think last year's was more in line with the actual German variations but this years is still tasty.

My wife and I both thought that it tasted like bread with honey slathered on. But also a little floral, so maybe with wildflower honey.

So after buying way too many six packs of every available Oktoberfest that I could find, I slowed down and made a mixed six at Total Wine of the Oktoberfests I've yet to try this season. One of them was the Nine Band Ghost Cow Oktoberfest. The can looked cool, but that's where it stopped. On pouring the beer, I could smell a funk to it, but couldn't quite pinpoint it. When I drank it, it was about as sour as a Berliner weiss. I checked some other reviews, but no one mentioned theirs being sour/tart. Has anyone else experienced this? I'm assuming my can was infected somehow. Thanks,

Scored a 4 pk of Ayinger Marzen at TW today. And Shiner Oktoberfest is terrible this year.

I didn't think Shiner's Oktoberfest was too bad (at least no worse than years past), but I'm definitely looking forward to trying their barrel aged Marzen!!

Didn’t know about that one. Any more details on it?

I agree, Shiners wasn't really bad but it wasn't anything to go back for.

It was much better a few years ago.

I'm sure I wont get a lot of love for this, but Elysian pumpkin ales have finally shown up. Their schwarzbier version is mighty tasty! Has anyone seen Ballast Points Pumpkin Down yet? Looking on their beer finder, it hasn't really hit here in San Antonio yet.

That description sounded familiar, so I looked up the beer on Untappd. Sure enough, I had it a little over a year ago. My description - "Very flat, with an odd sourness."

So has anyone found the Spoetzl small batch Marzen, aged in Balcones barrels? I thought I had read somewhere that it was being released on October 1st, but I haven't seen any further mention of it.

Will be very interested to see how Shiner's go at barrel aging turns out.
Very interesting choice to barrel age, too.
