Pure Project/Pure Brewing SD

I've been digging the sour IPA's PP has been making. Both Zestier and Graceful Instrument are worth stopping in for.

 

Any thoughts on the membership? Worth it? Seems pretty expensive, but guaranteed cans with the early access seems like a pretty good perk.

 

I personally think it is too pricey vs. the quality. Early access is quite nice, but I have not seen any lines for cans (like before, obviously still a short line) when I drive by.

But, I am also not of fan of about 90% of their beers to begin with, so, there is that.

 

As was pointed out in the thread on club renewals in general, those bottles are mostly 375ml, which is quite small for the price they're asking. Also, only 4 are exclusive to the club. Doesn't seem worth it to me but that's just my opinion.

 

Well, their $650 "select" membership sold out in 4 minutes, so WTF do I know? Perpetually scratching my head over this place and the buzz around it. Regular membership remains. Having heard next to nothing about it tells me all I really need to know.

 

I've had couple of their hazy ipas, nothing special IMO, none of them have wowed me what so ever, but all my SD hazebros them.

 

There is no Pure Project (2019) thread on BA, because I am their only fan here apparently, but they have been killing it lately. Their recent batch of Double Dust is top-tier, and Log Cabin w/ Coffee & Coca was outstanding.

 

I would give them more of a chance if I could sit inside their tasting room for more than 5 minutes...but the odor of axe body spray and bathing in perfume does a number on my head...almost moreso than my drinking at festivals and shares. =P

 

When is the banker's hill location opening?

 

They haven't provided a firm date, just "this summer."

Any members have a chance to taste the superstition meadery collab "scarlet visions" yet? Interesting style.

 

The IPAs are the definition of "meh" for me, and I've had some of the recent ones. But I did really like the cinnamon coconut rum BA nine nights, so they can make a solid stout.

 

Like all beer memberships in San Diego with then exception of modern times not worth it.

 

Yeah they are building another tap room, surprised it's taken them so long those can release days can be the worst shit shows to sit in and have a beer.

 

I'm assuming pure has done the preview tasting at this point. Curious on the tasting notes. Genuinely want to give it a shot but for the mead price, I'm hesitant.
