@the_trystero provided HPB with Geisha coffee for a nitro stout. Maybe he can elaborate?

...I apologize in advance for dragging you into this dumpster fire of a thread.

So your saying in order for a beer to taste great, it needs to be stripped to its prime with nothing added? I take it you've never tried to brew beer. Just because I throw coffee, chocolate, or any other adjunct in shit doesn't mean it's going to magically taste like something amazing other than shit.

And the same argument could be used for the use of bourbon barrels for BA beers. Might as well stick to your Alesmith Speedway... wait, that has coffee... nevermind.

Yep. To the OP's point it was cold brew for HPB's beer so it wasn't as floral and tea-like as a hot brewed coffee. I was hesitant on this but who am I to second guess a brewer I trust? In this case it was HPB Grant's idea. It was just a small keg so it didn't add anything to the bar price of the beer in this case. And it added a nice bit of sweetness to a fairly roasty stout (I'm not much into 5.5% stouts) so in the end I really liked it. I don't think the Gesha version of Net Positive was on nitro though.

And as far as Three Chiefs goes, I know folks are annoyed at the way they're starting out but they'll get it figured out. As far as their beer goes I understand their imperial stouts are incredible, I haven't had any since their homebrewing days unfortunately. As far as a Gesha imperial stout goes, I'm going to have to put my trust in the brewer.

Thanks for the intel! I checked my Untappd history to see if I wrote any notes at the time, and the description just says "nitro stout with geisha" so I went with it. Stupid Untappd making me look like a fool!

The rest of you can now return to expanding upon this delightfully comedic tome.

    Don't trust my memory!!!

And as far as Geshas go their prices AND flavor profiles are widening dramatically from $7 a lb to $1000 a lb at auction, and from your typical chocolatey coffees on up to those fantastic floral super complex coffees Just a couple of weeks ago I was able to sell a nicely floral and citrusy Gesha for the same price as the rest of my coffees (I'm super stoked about this because value is important to me.)

When you can't praise or enjoy a stout without it tasting like melted ice cream with chocolate syrup and fudge on top, you don't like stout. And that's the typical trend with the pastry hoard hypebois that pump up these particular "beers."

The type of people that need a beer to be bastardized to that level in order to drink it aren't the type of people that will spend enough money on a place to support a business model that caters to them.

lol! They make a lot of beer at a wide variety. They are not in any way comparable and they weren't born on sludgy pastry melt.

I think we can assume that Three Chiefs will make more than pastry stouts. They had both IPAs and (I believe) pilsners available.

People hate, and rightly so, on hypebeasts, such as yourself.
It's the "beer game" that leaves a bitter taste in people's mouths. Pun intended or not. Whatever.

I think we should debate what the cost of these geisha coffee stout bottles will be.

I’m just surprised the Mods haven’t shut down this thread yet since probably 75%+ of the comments don’t really have anything to do with 3 Chiefs. #argumentadcocate

I have an appreciation for both styles of brewing. I know it takes skill to execute these styles. Maybe hard for you to understand if you’ve never brewed a beer before. You seem like the same type of person that knocks individuals for drinking haze because it taste like OJ and not a west coast IPA. Or BA stouts because they are too boozy and has too many bourbon qualities. Might as well drink bourbon then right?
