I will as long as they keep the format  For real though, too large to drink on your own, too small for a proper share. Not to mention the god awful branding.

I personally think they look cool AF but agree I’d rather have 4 packs of 12oz.

I personally prefer it. Found the 12oz too little and cracking a 2nd 12oz WAY too much for solo mission

Sadly for my liver, I have no issue taking down one of these bottles solo.

This is more or less how I feel. I was fine drinking the bombers by myself, but it didn't make for very social evenings.

I used to feel that the 16.9oz bottles were just a bit too much, and that 12oz was appropriate. That said, I've been revising my thoughts a little.

Recently, I've been drinking very little. 1 or 2 days a week, usually one or two beers each. I've been craving beer so much, though, that i've been going for the jugular and drinking some of my cellar that I enjoy the most.

Anyway, with drinking this little, I've had no problem putting down a 12oz bottle and looking for more. On some occasions, even putting down the 16.9oz and looking for something else. When I was drinking more consistently, this was an issue. I think mostly because I wasn't enjoying my beers as much, so I was drinking slower. I've been drinking a bit faster.

Also, it depends greatly on when I start. If I only have 90ish minutes before (probably) heading to bed, a 12oz is fine, but a 16.9 will keep me up. If I have 3 hours, I can do a 16.9.

My bigger concern/frustration is that 16.9 limits "how frequently" I can consume them, because of how many bottles I have/allotment I can get. Hopefully I'll get to come to Chicago this year, and getting regular will be a non-issue for me!

Posted in the other thread (not sure why there are two) but thought I meant to post it in here, anyway, might as well:

BCBS Vanilla was unretired because the new one releasing this year will basically be rated under this same entry, yeah?

With the changes to the Top Beers calculations, I'd been looking over the list and realized that it was now on there, although I didn't remember it being there before.

It didn't occur to me until just now that it likely would have been retired previously.

Yes that's what they've done. 2010 BCBS Vanilla and 2018 BCBS Vanilla are being treated as the same entry. Same thing with Bramble Rye, though it's not as obvious since it's not a top 250 beer. Seems correct to me.

FWIW, I responded to @Sabtos and tagged a mod in the other thread this was posted in - the BCBS thread is the "news" subforum - and indicated that I thought these should be different rather than lumped together. Won't rehash anything, as the discussion is already over there. If anyone agrees or disagrees (with either of us), i'd encourage discussion in that thread.

That's awful. That would be like having the same rating for a wine regardless of it's vintage... These won't be like the originals. Didn't that article say they did things differently with these?

lol this isn't wine though...would you want a vintage for every release of Bells Two Hearted?

That said I am interested if there is any variation in process or ingredients.

So along this line, the new beer is obviously flash-pasteurized.

Has anyone found any 'normal-aging' oxidation changes in 2016 or 2017 yet? Last time I checked in on this aspect (in this thread), it seemed like no one thought 2016 tasted like it had the age on it that it did. I plan to open one soon....for science.

From what I'vr read, and I'm reading between the lines here, GI seem to consider this re-releasing beers they last made in 2010 and 2012, respectively. Will they taste exactly the same? No, but 2017 BCBS didn't taste exactly the same as 2016 BCBS when first released either.

If that's your main reason, they should reset coffee, regular and Barleywine to post-2015 and pre-2015 entries. I don't think that's a good idea. It's more of a change to their quality control than the recipe.

Good point, although I haven't found a lot of variation in regards to age on regular BCBS, I have found that some of the older versions were surprisingly tasty, especially compared to '15 and '16. But @Chuckdiesel24 raises a good counterpoint.

Even more surprisingly, a three year old, (at the time [2016]), BCBCS was one of the best BA coffee stouts I'd ever had. With how much shit aging coffee beers gets, that one stands out amongst the pack in standing the test of time.

If you read my other post (other thread), you'll see that's not my main reason for requesting it. It's a different brewer, different barrels, and likely not exactly the same amount of the two types of beans. My other reason is rating. How different does a rating have to be for it to be different. If 2018 BCBVS gets a whopping 3.8 vs. the 4.6 the 2010 has, should that still be considered the same beer? Sounds completely different.

By comparison, the flash-pasteurization comment was really referring to aging. If the flash beers are aging slower, that's going to change the ratings in years to come. While that seems like a 'note that great' reason to change a beer like regular BCBS, it seems like a great reason to have a second entry for a beer that's only been made twice, 8 years apart, with a number of differences.

I thought they used years in parentheses after it to denote stuff like this?

As much as I hate the format its kind of the best of both worlds. 12oz was terrible to split but perfect solo. 22oz was a perfect split but too much solo. 16.9 kind fills the gap. its a good split and your not wacked if you take it down yourself.

Two Hearted is a year round beer that is brewed consistently for the same flavor. BCBS Vanilla is brewed once every 8 years....Can you see a difference?

    BCBS Vanilla 2010- 13% ABV
    BCBS Vanilla 2018- 14.9 ABV

But what's 1.9% ABV amongst friends?

Sorry, that reads a bit differently than I meant. I didn't think that was your main reason. But I don't think it's a reason whatsoever, as I said - I think it's quality control not recipe.

I'll let you in on a little secret - the 2018 BCBVS ratings will not average a 3.8. Don't tell anyone, OK :no_mouth:
