My local shop told me that 2018 BA Oil has been pulled from shelves. Take this with a grain of salt as I do not have the whole story but thought it was note worthy.

Also want to say that I commend this, if there is an issue, and think they did the responsible thing in continuing to make it right with their customers.

And for those that already purchased some of the questionable beers? I bought two and both were bad. Buying BA Jackie O’s stuff seems like a high risk proposition at this point...unless it’s a sour.

Did we just jump back in time 8 months? They had issues, acknowledged them, made it right, and changed everything necessary to not have this happen again.

Did you read the post two above? I'm confused. @Ohiovania alluded to this as something that just happened. At least, that's how I read the post.

Just realized it said '18 BA Oil, thought he was referring to the '17 which was on the list... With that said, I didn't even think they released BA Oil in 2018?

Believe it came out several months ago. I seem to recall driving through Cincinnati mid August, calling a few stores I wanted to visit (but did not get the chance to visit), and being told BA Oil was on the shelf. I was surprised it was still there.

'18 BA Oil was released June 15th. Also hit distro. I have a few bottles I grabbed from the Taphouse. Only had one. still have the others.

Interested if true because the one I had was not sour, but definitely didn't seem to be the same BA Oil that I know and love. I figured it was just my palette on that given day. Going to have to crack another this weekend for science.

This release would have been after the new bottling line, but before pasteurization.

    </edit>

Also I had my last remaining AB Dark App from the Anny release and it was definitely soured. that would have been pre-new bottling line I believe.

I’ve had good luck with my AB DA, but have run into soured BA Oil. The AB Oil that was released at Appervation I think is the last of the non pasteurized offerings from them so that should be the last we hear of this...

For what it’s worth, the 3 most recent untappd check in’s are saying their BA oil was infected.

Also, I’m not sure how it can be said that it’s been “made right” if it involves 7 hours of driving from Cleveland to Athens and back on my behalf to get different beers. Thankfully I only bought two. So I’m out $25. Big deal. If I picked up a bunch of them, I’d be feeling pretty burned right about now.

There were lots of other options, including sending in pictures of the beer. That horse has long been beat to death though, so no reason to start it up again.

The BA oil thing is strange to me though, since they specifically said they would release none of their adjunct stuff until after the pasteurizer was up and running. Just weird to go back on that and try to slip one out there without pasteurization.

For a great number of reasons, I do wish @beace was around more frequently. Like he used to be. Shows he has not logged in for 14 weeks. Feels like it has been longer since he has posted.

I believe the pasteurizer was specifically supposed to apply to adjuncts added after barrel aging. I believe Oil is actually brewed with the walnuts and syrup as opposed to being conditioned on those ingredients post-barrel aging (which is why we're only seeing the coffee version today and Oro later in the year), so I don't think it fits under the category of the barrel-aged adjunct beers they said they wouldn't be releasing. I think this is also why Double Barrel Black Maple and Iron Furnace were also both released prior to the pasteurizer being up.

Yeah. They should have been hand delivering the replacement beers to us while we sit on the can taking our morning shit.

Who'd wanna waste their time going and visiting a brewery they proclaim to love anyway? On a non-release day, no less!

I'm gonna spend my money on exploding cans at Platform from now on.

Well they initially claimed the issue was with adjuncts, so in theory a BB Oil would be okay if they were thinking the nuts wouldn't be an issue.

It's beyond obvious that the issue lies with the sour facility being housed in the same location IMO, but maybe I'm wrong.
