So much maple syrup flavor in this. I dig it but it is a dangerous beer to drink.

Good point. I am not a fan of Better Half but it at least drinkable. Lizard of Koz, not so much. That one was a drain pour about 4 ounces in. Better Half is reminiscent of Backwoods Bastard but I prefer Backwoods Bastard to Better Half, by a lot.

Still hasn't hit Long Island, NY. Is the Disty holding them back?

It’s just coming through now. Don’t know why the delay.

I'm real surprised they are doing better half and CBS back to back

I was really hoping for a BA version of their RIS. They can keep their overpriced CBS bombers.

Assuming they got a new batch of maple barrels at once it makes sense to release the beers aged in those barrels in the same time frame

Me too, 24.99 is kind of a hard pass for me. At least do 4 packs this time

Yes, but why choose CBS again. I would love to see sweet repute back or some earlier classics (e.g. Death or Sappy Slappy Bastard).

If I had to guess probably for financial reasons. Selling it all in 750ml bottles gives them a huge profit margins relative to a 4 pack. The only reason they are doing this is that CBS remains a hyped beer and they know they can get away with it. They are cashing in on the hype while it still exists

Why? The other shit they have been doing (::insert hoppy beer aged in oak barrels::slight_smile: doesn't seem to sell at all. BB is accumulating dust at most shops near me (though I'm sure once it's not 80+ that will change).

I don't think there's any shortage of bourbon barrels that have previously held maple syrup, either, if that's what you're suggesting.

Historically Founders have made the claim these are hard to find. How often do you buy BA maple syrup?

I just cracked my first bottle a little while ago. It's definitely on the sweeter side, but personally I found it to be very enjoyable. There's an abundance of complex flavors, and they linger on the palate for quite awhile after each sip.

Has this actually been confirmed or just speculation.

    I can't find it anywhere.

I like this beer a lot. It is too seeet for more than one but it works for me. My question is what will aging do for it? Is the yeast still live when bottled? I have probably 200 bpttles aging but most are lambics or other Belgians that are bottle fermented. Have a few dozen various favorite stouts tucked away but I’m not sure they’ll get better with age or not. Bought a case of better half and just trying to decide how many to lay up.

I didn't see Barrel Runner in Mass, so I'm hoping I see this. I really like the Curmudgeon Old Ale and this sounds extra delicious.

750ml only. There is a dedicated CBS thread that was started yesterday discussing the release
