Corona has done a remarkable job of marketing the experience. As for the actual beer, shove a lime in your Natural Light (or any other budget beer) and it'll provide the same refreshment at a lower cost.

This was all my parents drank, which was a great way to prevent a teenage me from drinking. I thought I disliked beer until I had a Yuengling.
When I later discovered Corona was the more expensive of the too, I was nearly offended. That's what confuses me most. People aren't just drinking crap beer, they're drinking expensive crap beer.

Well it is according to BA...

I mean doesn't the clear bottle say it all. I would love to be able to taste a corona right off the bottling line before it gets distorted from all the light exposure. I just take the beer for what it is a decent compliment to mexican food. pretty good with some nice fish tacos, a little salt and lime and your all set.

When I was a young 18 year old Marine I went out one night to a restaurant in Oceanside, CA to eat with a friend of mine. Though we were underage we ordered beer anyway. I ordered the one and only Corona I will ever drink. Even as an 18 year old with very little in the way of beer discernment, I knew that Corona is in a word, DISGUSTING.

    Never.Again.

It makes Coors light seem great by comparison. I guess if I was travelling in Mexico it would be a safe alternative to the local water.

I'm from México, but I don't like corona. I never drink it. I prefer Heineken...

If more people reviewed bud light chelada or desperados I'm sure that would change. Corona light is easy to get compared to the other beers that taste worse.

With so many other great choices of better quality, I can't understand the attraction to this below-average beer.

when i was 21 and playing drinking games, I loved corona. It had no flavor and was easy to binge drink. Now that I am drinking for other reasons, I wouldn't even consider buying it. If I went to a get together, didn't bring my own beer (lol that would never happen), and someone offered me one, I would probably drink it.

In all seriousness.....it is probably better for you and at least safer. So....I guess there is some use for it....assuming there was no other beer or tequila around.

I don't mean to sound pretentious, but this is Beer Advocate. So many of you have become so snobby, shallow, and expected. I can honestly say that I have laughed more at most of you than with most of you. Hell, I doubt more than half of you can even brew a decent lager. Stop ripping beers on the sole count that you have the palette of royalty (in your own mind) and appreciate what beer really is.
I don't love, like, or even order Corona when it's $2.00/bottle at the dive I go to for a football game every now and again, but shit, you ever been to a Mexican co-workers party where everyone is just happy to be alive and grateful for what they are able to have? Corona, a house of twenty kind people exposing you to their culture, and great smiles makes Corona what it is. Beyond the taste.
Beer isn't a debate or a show of who has better silium, it's about the personal preference and bringing people together.

EDIT: Let me add this, too: I see the widest majority of you drinking beers solely from BA ratings, these days. You are the kind that are furthest from the truth. You are not Beer Advocates; you are sheep. Stop.

Don't like hoppy beers? No problem. Try some malt-forward ones.
Don't like Oktoberfests or Bocks? Well, welcome to the wonderful world of IPAs.
Don't like Stouts or Barleywines? OK, sample some lighter styles like APAs.

Don't like adjunct lagers? WOAH! YOU'RE A BEER SNOB!

I once did a blind taste test of 12 different beers with 10 or so people. Everyone hated the Corona and because of its skunky taste thought it was Heineken. When we found out it was Corona people were surprised how much they hated it. Their marketing really does trick people.

Never been a fan. Always tasted skunky to me. Even before I became into more craft stuff. Much prefer Modelo Especial or Negro Modelo.
