No shit. For the price of a case of lame-ass KBS you can get two cases of the headiest ipa in the country.

500 cases a year of a brewery that size in it's home market is not a lot of cases.

Spoke to a distributor rep yesterday...was told 50 cases for the state so the numbers look about that level.

As you stated, allocation was based on Founders sales...minimum sales were supposed to be 50 cases for the prior year in order to have a chance at an allocation (i.e., no guarantee). Maximum two cases for a store/chain.

According to the distributor, last year, better than 100 cases came to MA.

I can't guarantee the precise veracity of that information; perhaps others can provide more data.

    -K.

KBS comes in at various days at various stores. Last year I got my 2 bottles with a later delivery at least a week after most stores had gotten it.

It does seem strange that Vermont got a disproportionate amount of KBS. Wondering if L. Knife took some of their allocation for MA and sent it to VT. That would account for the 50% decrease available this year.

well, don't rush to julio's, sold out in 10 min.

i'm disappointed they got rid of their list system. now it's just jobless people waiting on trucks.

Lists suck in their own ways. Honestly though, if somebody is waiting around for a delivery truck all afternoon I feel sorry for them.

Why don't more stores do bottle releases, just like breweries? "48 bottles of KBS on sale when the store opens at 10am on Saturday, one per person". The people that badly want a bottle can get there at 9am, and at least others all have a fair crack at popping over and getting a bottle. The line will never get that out of hand, because if people show up and it's 100 deep they'll just leave. Plus it's not like Julio's isn't in a location that could handle a long line easily.

Well, Julio's tweeted about it at 320PM. I got some at 345PM, that's clearly more than 10 minutes. I have a full-time job. I ended up getting one bottle because they decided to drop the limit from 2 to 1 for the last 10 bottles. It was strange because they brought out 10 bottles for 5 people and said they couldn't divide that many for 5 people. I just stood there kind of confused and took a single, 1 KBS is better than no KBS.

Of course there was the guy at Julio's who seems to be present when every beer gets released. The one that says "KBS is already gone" sarcastically as people walk toward the beer section, as if he isn't there for KBS himself (of course there were bottles of KBS in his cart). People like this make me LOL.

splitting hairs over 10 min vs 25 is a bit much - regardless, unless you could drop work, or lived nearby, this was impossible. thus why i like the civility of lists. ymmv.

i bet I know the guy you're talking about--he was roaming around the store when I was there after lunch.
Too funny, glad you guys got some--I got one bottle this morning at another location and it wasn't a big deal--sorry I missed it at Julios by a couple hours, but that job thing got in the way:slight_smile: Maybe I'll be jobless next year and get a couple bottles, hahhaha

My one bottle of KBS cost me about $100 in other beers.
I've got one of those 75m in the fridge as we speak and it's going down with dinner!
I'm pumped to have the Old Raspy XIV too.

As I did not get any, at least I can take comfort in the fact that one night at Armsby Abbey I had a Heady Topper followed by a Hill Farmstead Society and Solitude #2. Both were a revelation.

Past 2 years was able to piece together several 4pks from a few stores. This year. . . 1 bottle.

    Happy hunting all!
