Rookie BIF Round 2 Hints and Hauls Thread

I have all the addresses I have sent to or received from. So, when I sent to @dprice earlier, I already had his. I also still have yours in case I decide you haven’t had enough central New York beer recently.

Box packed up and dropped off at Fedex. 4 day shipping?? Never had a fedex box take that long. My target must live in the boonies.

Not all the beers are from TX. Included some beers from a few other well known breweries and also a couple from a newish MO brewery that is gaining a good reputation for hops.

 

Get it from the organizer but after enough of these you have alot of peoples info already. I sometimes reach out to another person in the group especially if you are sending o the organizer.

 

Plus, one would likely still have a previous target/sender info if you wanted revenge. Plus, there's a fair amount of trading that happens, so if you see a couple folks interacting a lot, they might have each others info.

I run a different BIF, and I've got lots of folks shipping info, and every round I get multiple requests for ninja/revenge/LIF winners addy's.

Or just creatively stalk him -- you could send him beer, show up at his place of work, or pretty much anything.

 

I have the addresses of about 80 people on Beer Advocate (and have gotten rid of at least another 10), including 5 in our current round, on the "roster" tab of my spreadsheet :-)

My box(es) from @Jimmy_Kneecaps arrived Friday afternoon, while I was en route to a family commitment in Chicago. My neighbor retrieved it for me, and after getting home at about 11:30PM on Sunday I stopped by after work today to pick them up.

So first -- I think JT is a major investor in duct tape -- between the boxes and the contents, he used about a roll of the damn stuff. Unpacking and unwrapping was a major effort, but well worth it.

First, a bunch of 16 oz cans from a couple of highly acclaimed Tennessee breweries ...possibly the top two in the state...

Southern Grist 100K Hill
Southern Grist Pressing Matters Riesling

It's late tonight and last night was a late night so I'll be brief -- other than the 100K Hilll (a sour), these are all New England IPA's. JT was awesome and apparently avoided Mosaic hops for me, which I greatly appreciate. And based on the breweries reputations, I'm sure I'll enjoy these!

Here we've got

Wiseacre Adjective Animal - this one's an Imperial IPA
Wiseacre Gotta Get Up to Get Down- a coffee stout. I love coffee stouts.
3 Floyds Zombie Dust- the only beer in the box that I've had before, so I might be upset except IT'S ZOMBIE DUST!!
Wiseacre Astronaut Status (2017) - - this one is BA's #2 overall Tennessee beer - and I am super excited to try it
Wiseacre Tiny Bomb- a Pilsner and the brewery's flagship according to JT. I will PROBABLY drink this one while mowing my lawn, because I'm an idiot and like doing that with Pilsners
Ozark BDCS (2018) - JT noticed that I'm a ticker and have never had anything from Arkansas, he decided to send me the #1 beer in Arkansas. Given the combination of reviews, style, and rating, this is probably the beer I'm most excited about in the whole box

Jimmy also sent a nice note telling me about the beers, and I really appreciate the attention to detail on the Mosaic.

I received some Bearded Iris stuff from @Buck89 before, and liked it. The BI tulip he sent however, was my favorite glass ever. My ex-roomie broke it one night while washing it.

I’m glad you liked it, the anticipation was killing me! BI absolutely loves mosaic so avoiding it was a bit of a challenge but I didn’t want to send you some stuff you’d hate.
And yes I was overzealous with the duct tape and realized an hour after wrapping the boxes in the stuff that it doesn’t stick well to cardboard. Oh well, I made up for it with the shipping tape.
Ha anyway thanks to everyone for making my first BIF so enjoyable. It was an awesome experience and I’ll definitely be doing another one, I think I’m addicted now. The high of watching someone get geeked about the beer you sent them is pretty awesome.
