Hey folks. The Mrs and I will be spending the weekend in Chicago, staying in the Roscoe Village area. I'm quite familiar with the north side of the city, but we are looking for a bar to watch the UK/South Carolina game Sat night in the Roscoe area and I was hoping someone here could help.

We want to avoid the Pony (been there many times) as it will likely be crazy and I don't want to have to get there an hour + before the game and my go-to sports bar in Roscoe, Riverview Tavern, is now closed. Anyone have any suggestions for us, especially something walkable?

    Thanks in advance!

    Cheers!

I was at Corridor the last time I was in town and don't seem to remember seeing any TVs in there. I am always looking for good beer, but the main goal is to find somewhere other than the Pony we can watch the UK football game on Sat evening.

Riverview Tavern was re-opened as The Reveler, and as far as I can tell, it's still a good place to watch sports (I haven't been in yet). I live a few blocks away, and it doesn't seem to get particularly crowded as of yet (most likely because people gave up on Riverview after it being MIA for so long).

That's great to know. We love the Village Tap for food/drinks, especially when sitting on the Patio, but Riverview was a better "sports" bar. Good to know it reopened as something else. Interested to see what their tap selection is like as Riverview's was usually solid when we were in town.

    Thanks!

Yea, Village Tap is somewhere we always go when in town, though i've never thought of going there for a game.

As an FYI, I believe that Reveler is an Iowa bar. I'm sure they'll have plenty of college football on, but if your game falls at the same time as an Iowa game, you could be SOL. Right across the street is Commonwealth, which seems to have plenty of TVs. I was only in there once for brunch, though, so not for a day of game watching. Also not sure which college they affiliate with.

It's definitely an Iowa bar (they even say so on the website).

I think it's managed and maybe owned by the same people as Riverview was, though, so the beer list should be outstanding, at least.

Good news is that Iowa doesn't play this Saturday, so we have that going for us.

This would've been my response, but he said walkable from Roscoe Village, so the other options above seem to make more sense. If it were me, though, I would Uber/Lyft to Sheffield's instead.
