An American walks into a liquor store in a foreign country. What does he buy? An IPA.

    Aooni IPA.

I got some stuff that I think will make it into NBS this week as well! But for now, I'll focus on this IPA. I'm looking forward to getting back on US soil and getting some American IPAs back in my stomach.

    Cheers! Enjoy your day!

P.S. I guess being 14+ hours different from my main timezone is pretty nice for starting these threads... This trip doesn't last long, so I won't get used to it.

Yes! But just until this weekend, then I'm back home! I'm enjoying Japan, but looking forward to having a little more room to sprawl out.

Time zones are a little funky too.

Good morning or afternoon. Good evening @Harrison8 ...

I was eventually able to get my hands on Chouffe blonde in can which I was discussing with @Beer-Panda lately.

Doesn’t taste any different than the bottle version except this is a 500ml not a 330ml.

    Cheers!

I am making it a Kettlehead Wednesday! Hopefully, @SawDog505 will join me! Thank you, @Ocalafox! Last night I saw Philip H. Anselmo, so I have to rest my neck after a night of head-banging. I am looking forward to watching the Milwaukee Brewers take ownership of the NL Central Division.

Yowza! This one is a fuckin banger right out the cannon. This has a great spicy citric dankness that really hits the spot after a hard night’s work. Really digging anything with Vic Secret in it lately and Other Half absolutely kills it here. Cheers!

It’s tough to follow up the last beer I had but this will certainly do. This might be the best brewery in the NYC metro area now. @xenjoiii don’t play around.

Hey, if you happen to find a bottle of Happoshu in your luggage, and feel like sending it to CA when you get back, I wouldn't be upset!! 1 of 2 styles left to tick off!!!

Kidding about you bringing it back, of course.

    @Shanex,
Thanks for sharing your assessment, as I was curious. Perhaps you can do the same with Delirium Tremens since that is canned as well (not sure if the canned format is only available in The States).

I would agree that a fresh can and fresh bottle would be really close (or at least they should be!). However, since the can is not refermented, I would be willing to bet that the shelf stability of the bottled version would hold up longer and perhaps gain a bit more complexity as time passes.

I had high hopes for this one . . .

Good clear yellow gold color with solid white cap and lacing.

Aroma of bready malt, some grassiness and a spicy hop element with a touch of citrus.

Taste of yeasty bread, some hop influence opens up mid palate, finish is clean and crisp. Hops come across as firm without being obtrusive with a slight citrus tang. The flavors are good though not outstanding. In fact this is a conservative prob in the Pilsner direction without wandering off the established boundaries of the Yuengling reservation. It's as if they wanted to create something new that would also be acceptable to their established customer base. Can't blame them for that, one of the reasons I suppose they've managed to stay in business for 180 years now. Which is extraordinary when you think about it, the Yuengling family was brewing and selling beer long before the original Pilsner was created.

    Medium texture with balancing carbonation.

This Pilsner, like their IPL, is a step towards the style but a small one that's tentative, almost baby steps. Ok, that's it, Yuengling Golden is a baby steps Pilsner.

I’ve seen Delirium in can here too but haven’t purchased it yet. No doubt your second paragraph is correct but I’ll buy it too!

Day trip back to Salisbury so the wife could shop. We hit some thrifts and I found a 1783 Washington token in a coin shop cheap, we had a fantastic lunch, then split up. I revisited the main Cathedral and the Magna Carta information...now at a pub:

First an English Bitter on tap: Adnams “Broadside”:

It’s ok. Now an American style IPA - “Electric I.P.A.”, by Brixton Brewery, London, UK:

A juicy skunky mango pineapple lemongrass thin bodied beer with a bitter lemon rind finish. Not bad!

Sounds like a lovely stay in the UK and while France is trying to catch up regarding the craft beer scene I’m sure that the British are way ahead. If I could find Young Double Chocolate Stout again.

    Cheers!

Speaking of the UK - well Scotland here I am drinking Brewdog Indie Pale Ale, despite the name it’s not an IPA and call itself an “Independent Pale Ale”.

Interesting, I liked most brewdogs beers I’ve had. They have a distinct taste and mouthfeel that anyone should be able to distinguish or recognize.
