Nah, it's a combination of a few things nowadays:

1) I can realistically expect to easily pick up bottles of regular BCBS for months after, so I'm not lining up for that.

2) I don't care about BCBCS or BW much, so I don't have to line up for them.

3) There are so many good stouts in Chicago now that just being a BCBS variant doesn't cut it for me anymore (meaning I'd be fine passing on something like last year's Prop because there's plenty of other local stuff I'd be just as happy to drink).

With that said, some of the variants this year do sound really promising.

 

look, I have no idea what offended you about my original post. you've posted in here about attending a BCS tasting and going to GABF which is one large tasting. so really have no idea what's your deal. i'll leave it at that.

 

I found it bizarre that anyone would say "I really like this beer. But if I get a taste of it I won't have to buy it." Especially at an event where you're going to pay $30 to get in and then $70 (which I assume you would pay) for 3 bottles. It'd be one thing to say "i'd like to go to a tap takeover and try these. Probably don't need to buy bottles then." But this event is....more of a marketing ploy to get you to go buy bottles than it is a one-stop shop for trying them. I'm not attacking you or making fun of you I'd like to dive deeper into your thinking. But the idea of Goose Island spray bottles of BCBS made me laugh. So I included it in my over-the-top response.

 

I've seen him post in other topics, and based upon that, he either loves being a douche, or simply doesn't realize he is. I'd just ignore him.

 

Its like a mix of trolling and genuine concern for everyone's wellbeing..

 

Ideally I could walk into a bar or GI and have an of the variants on draft and do one each time I visit over the course of 6 months. Don't need a full bottle, just want to try it in a relaxed setting to see the experience. I'm fine with tasting a sample of all the variants at Fobab or Prop Day or Black Friday just to see how they stack up....

It's weird. I feel like a cabal formed a few months ago and they decided they didn't like me. And their "gotcha" on me is that I'm a Mikerphone apologist......which......I don't fully understand since I haven't even been there since May or something. I mean I'm an asshole for sure. But yeah lately it's gotten weird.

 

In fairness, in the past I thought you might be an asshole based on the mocking/trolling you do, but it was based on a pretty small sample size (I've seen @HouseofWortship receive the same criticism). I would imagine some people only see the "wrong" comments of yours (growing up I was always the kid that got in trouble for doing something once, when everyone else did the same thing a million times, so I know the feeling).

I'm curious about that one for sure, but mostly because I'd like to try it and tell myself I got to taste what made the OG version so great. Rye didn't do that much for me.

 

Yea, it's like, really, really, really weird that people get turned off by posts from an asshole in a forum about a fun topic in beer.
