They seem to be hinting at something to take the place of Hop Stalker... Wonder if its IBUsive to cans/bottles this year, instead. I wouldn't mind that swap one bit, I really think IBUsive is better anyway! We can at least hope...

Looks like JuJu is coming, instead. I do recall FH mentioning with the new facility they plan to do JuJu more often (bi-annual bottle release, as well).

I have no problem with that. But I also think FH’s, while still making great beer, is kind of falling behind in terms of hoppy beers. A few new and interesting brews would be welcomed.

I would appreciate a FH diversification into more BA Battle Axe

After talking with someone else today, bottling/packaging came into question. Do you think there might be hiccups or delays associated with any new bottling lines that might have been or need to be installed? I'm not privy to what all they've done/changed and whether they bottle/can at multiple facilities.

If there are issues, it'd be understandable they wouldn't want a beer like that packaged later than they can help it.

Probably, along with some issues with the brewing systems. But I really don’t have much new info beyond knowing their brew house wasn’t fully operational on day one.

For the record, I still think they do the best IPAs in Ohio, and I also think the new place is going to kick ass soon. I’m just an impatient arsehole

Masthead just released event details and they're canning Wet Work. If it's anything like last year, you won't miss Hop Stalker bottles.

Had Wet Work last year. Great beer, but it definitely won't make me forget about Hop Stalker. Thank God for Yakima Fresh.

... Any one know when Yakima Fresh was bottled last year? I'm looking forward to it this year.

I'd like to see variants of Hop Juju make distribution if that's the case. Although why ruin a good release schedule? Hop Juju is a February beer and it's one of the things to look forward to in the deep of Winter.

If Fat Head's goes through all of this just to put out fruited west coast IPA's in bottles I'd be pretty upset

It's funny how things change because juju has been on tap for a while now and I have litetterly not heard one thing about it. It taste great btw when i had it last. And I like hop stalker a lot I am happy to have some of that

In my opinion head hunter is enough for an all year regular IPA, it’s fantastic, there’s no need to add juju year round, keep it somewhat seasonal and mix in some new beers or their other styles.

Columbus must be happy about the lack of bottling by fat heads.

Who else does a local shelf wet hop? Did platform do one last year?

that's not usually the way it works. When we're traveling out there selecting hops each harvest season, they're hops that were very recently picked, dried, and baled. We'll rub samples from the bales. These are the hops that will fulfill our contracts for thousands of lbs of XYZ each year.

Hand selecting wet hops is pretty rare, unless you're a massive brewery or just happen to be geographically close and buying directly from a farm. At CBC, we buy a good amount of wet hop and it's literally just placing an order with our broker for what we want. Then we wait to hear when they're being picked and shipped and have to be ready to brew when they arrive.

**Edit: and i know ya'll are gonna ask....we just brewed Yakima Fresh last Friday and Saturday. No bottling date is officially set, but hoping for the week of the 8th.

I can't think of any other local wet hop beers. Wouldn't mind seeing Jackie O's try to get one in the seasonal rotation after the success of Who Cooks/Sea Foam/etc.

Platform canned one last year using chinook hops called 'Foliate'.. it was part of their "Small Batch IPA Series".. it was alright, but not their best IPA, IMHO..

Not a shelf beer, but Masthead is canning their wet hop this year. Release is next Saturday!

Columbus and JAFB did a collab thing for Cleveland Beer Week!

"A few weeks ago, a masked man joined us at Columbus Brewing Company for a special brew...just for NE OH and ready for Cleveland Beer Week. We’re happy to announce the Co-Lab with JAFB-Wooster Brewery, aptly named “Paul’s Brutique.”

We decided to take a swing at a unique Brut-style IPA, but using an estery English yeast strain and hopped it with Nelson Sauvin, Citra, Mosaic, Simcoe, and Chinook. 7.1% abv"
