This is my first ever 2nd pour picture. It is inspired by Mr. Colbert Hamels. He just confused 2008 with 2018, and totally let the Chicago Cubs "only" rival win an important game at Wrigley Field. Have fun at Miller Park when it is not a holiday that Cubs fans see on the calendar with over a year's notice, when they realize they can have the greatest tailgating experience ever, then get home in time for supper. Please note, I have love for every Chicago Cubs fan on WBAYDN, and I look forward to some fun banter over the next week. And, maybe I even have love for Cobert, for making this more interesting.

Energy City Milkshake Nawi Mango. This is a pretty poor representation of this style. Way too much hops, very bitter, not creamy at all, faint vanilla and very boozy. Can’t win them all I guess.

@PatrickCT hooked it up with a bunch of Oktoberfests for the weekend. And that's fucking awesome!

It's pretty good. On the sweeter side. Quite drinkable.

Thanks dude. Gun Hill or Jack's Abbey is on deck.

Apologies ahead of having to skip over this post quickly....

    Ok - time for a little side-by-side x 2 - VA vs NY/PA Pilsners.

Ok, Foreign Objects is officially out of New York, though the cans indicate Pennsylvania (contract brewing, I will assume - perhaps Yuengling or Sly Fox, perhaps). All I can see were brewed in August, with Foreign Objects being at the end of the month and the VA brews being earlier in August (one FO is unreadable, but I'll asssume about the time of the other one).

First thing that surprised me is that the beers spread the spectrum of color more than expected. Having had experience with the VA beers in the past, I am already leaning towards thinking the lighter brews are the VA beers - but I'm not completely confident here.

Beer #3 is the lightest and has the most head retention and laces the best. Beer #2 is the darker beer that crosses slightly into amber, while Beer #1 is second lightest and appears the clearest. Beer #4 is easily the darkerst, but sits at a light amber color.

Beer #1 is lightly bready with a little spicy hops. Beer #2 is more grainy and lean more heavily on that note than the slightly grassy bitterness that also shows up. Beer #3 relies most heavily on a grassy to spicy noble hop note with a cleaner malt nose. Beer #4 - the most amber - has more of a lightly toasted note backed by some noble hops.

At this point, I am pretty sure I know #3 is Ocelot and assume #1 is Ardent's Pilsner. But let's continue...

Beer #4 has an amber ale smooth malty note that includes a little toast and caramel, and ends up in a neutral state with some lingering grassy/reedy bitterness.

Beer #3 has a clean opening, with a little bit of a dry bread aspect, and a bitterness that really drive the beer overall.

Beer #2 has a fairly neutral opening, starts to lean malty, and then veers with a sharp turn towards a seemingly more American hop bitterness.

Beer #1 has a crackery malt opening and a more floral hop profile. It rivals #4 for the least bitter feeling of the group.

I liked them in order: #3, #1/#2, #4 (with #2 maybe slightly more than #1). The reveal...

Apparently I had the VA beers pegged. I also chose properly which of the two FO beers was the one we had before (#2):
    #3 Ocelot Sunnyside Dweller
    #1 Ardent Pilsner
#2 Foreign Objects Eine Nachtliche Hallerzination (I think)
#4 Foreign Objects Die Deutscher Haltung

I was hoping they'd be a little more similar, but oh well. The GF's order: #1, #3, #2, #4. Apparently we're a bunch of homers.

Cheers! And another if you played along.
