What's up everyone? Trying this for the first time - Põhjala Pime Öö PX. A huge (14%) imperial stout aged in sherry barrels. Really complex and wonderful. Definitely worth seeking out. Cheers!

I'm going to enjoy this 2016 version for the rest of your night and hope for Notre Dame and Ohio State losses.

Fantastic. Nice head retention/lacing on the glass. Aromas and flavors of big milk/dark chocolate, cocoa, coffee, maple syrup, cinnamon, caramel, toffee, brown sugar, nutmeg, vanilla, and toasted dark bread; with lighter notes of smoke, char, dark fruit, herbal/grassy/peppery hops, and yeast earthiness. Light-moderate herbal, grassy, peppery hops/spice; and roast/char bitterness on the finish. Medium carbonation and medium-full body; creamy/silky/bready malts; some sticky spice, and chalky char/roast in the mouthfeel. Light-moderate increasing hop/char bitter dryness, minimal acrid/astringency. Very smooth, minimal warming 8.3%. Great balance of rich dark/black/roast malts, maple syrup, spices, and earthy hops. Would have preferred the bitterness toned down to be more dessert-like. Pretty much identical to Pigeon Hill YMOFT, if it were lower in ABV. Great base style example as usual. 4.2

More expensive sours. 2014 vintage. This was fantastic. Great head retention/spotty lacing for a sour. Aromas and flavors of big sour/tart/tangy lemon, lime, orange, grapefruit, cranberry, strawberry, citrus peel/zest, peach, pear, pineapple, apricot, mango, melon, red/green apple, white grape/wine, oak, hay, straw, rose, floral, and grass; with moderate wheat, cracker, bready malts; lighter notes of peppercorn, leathery/musty/lacto funk, white wine vinegar, and yeast earthiness. Light-moderate fruity/lactic tart/sourness; light fruit tang, and yeast/oak spiciness on the finish. Medium carbonation/body, and fairly crisp finishing. Balanced creamy/grainy malts and lactic acid in the mouthfeel. Some fruit tang and oak tannins. Light-moderate increasing acid/tangy/tannic dryness. Mildly increasing pucker, but not overwhelming. Smooth sipping, despite acidity. Outstanding balance of Brett/Bacteria complexity, rose hips, orange peel, oak, and solid pale/wheat malts against acidity. They always deliver impressive results. 4.2

I don't think Ryan Braun has anything against Ryan Braun.

It is porch time. There will not be many of these evenings left in 2018, or 2025, obviously. Here is a shout out to @Greywulfken, and all Europeans, since you all love everything by this band.

Long day. I've been up for approximately 27 hours, but I want to do two things tonight before I go to bed: unpack to start chilling the beers I brought home and enjoy some American hops. Didn't bother with the nice camera to snap this.

Tomorrow's NBS posts may be centered around the new haul or maybe I'll stick to beer darker than a pale yellow.
