All of the new batches (except FdF) this year are noticeabley less acidic than the previous fruited fermiers. I prefer them to have more kick.

Prefer them more balanced, but to each their own.

Yeah...no...AdF was way too acidic for an apricot sour. I mean Casey's Apricot CFP was less so, and they aren't known for subtlety!

I thought AdF was the least acidic of them all, but I haven't had it since it came out.

Anyone have any idea if BBT is supposed to be the same every year? By that, I mean of course whether BBT will always be "Bourbon BA" treatement with the base stout, or whether it might be another barrel treatement this year or next, etc.

I've listened to this before, but relistened to it from 39:00 until the end.

Unless I missed something, Cory only echoed that BBT is a neat BA stout. He didn't comment whether it will always be Bourbon, or whether it could be another type of barrel.

In my mind I think I initially assumed it was going to be like a BCBS - Every year he releases a Bourbon BA Stout called BBT. But as we near, I don't see why 2017 couldn't be Bourbon BA, while 2018 release is Rye BA, and 2019 is Maple Bourbon BA, etc. Switching up the type of barrel wouldn't preclude his desire to highlight the barrel.

I understand where you are coming from but I think it will be a base recipe in a bourbon/whiskey barrel as this is supposed to be the simplest while he has varied with a few barrels for Derivation? Only time will tell!

They tweeted a week ago that they plan on doing BBT annually,

Yea. I thought that was known since last year. That was never the question. Just whether anyone knows if it will always be a bourbon treatemrnt, or if Rye might happen. Or any other Barrel besides Bourbon.

    Why would anyone know that?

Wouldn't that be BBT Rye, anyway?

    BBT is BBT.

    BBT is Beer: Barrel: Time

Bourbon never enters the wording. It's not like BCBS.

There are fancy members in this thread/on this board. I thought someone - whether inside or not - may have talked to Cory about it given that we are only 45ish days away, and I assume they are closer to 30 from bottling. Maybe less? Not sure how early they bottle.

Honestly, Cory isn't even a reputable source, especially verbally.

Go to a release, ask him yourself. Cory is a very personable guy. Don't try to email him though, he's horrible at reading them.

    Thanks, I guess?

Seems like this thread is always unnecessarily flowing with sarcasm.

I don't feel like my question was asking anything crazy. Seems like radio silence would have just been fine. If no one knows, no one answers. Not like I'm suggesting that the super secret elite society knows and they are holding out on the rest of us or anything.

If I ever made it down to SP, I'd gladly ask, but that time has yet to come. Still. I just don't have the ability to make an 8 hour round trip pretty much ever, although I am hoping to for this year's BBT.

I don't really see much sarcasm in this thread myself, and can't speak for others, but know I wasn't being sarcastic.

I can't think of a time when someone said Cory said something and it turned out to be accurate, including straight from brewers who were collaborating with him in regards to things said about the beer or release for the beer being collaborated on. The guy plays beer geeks like a fiddle with no shame, no chill, and it's pretty hilarious.

Not to mention the bullshit lines he fed any beer geeks who would listen regarding limited beer availability and pricing.

Not sure where you get this impression but I disagree very strongly.
I cannot think of a time that I have spoken with Cory and not thought he was reputable or that he didn't tell me the truth about something. I fully understand that he reserves some thoughts and releases because no matter who knows what, rumors spread and things pop up...Ex:
We all now know that this was false as it was found to be Framboise Du Fermier Blend #2.

I agree with this as well but he also may have not made a decision on some of the beers; Ex: what a blend is if it hasn't happened yet or what fruit/adjunct is being added which may be based on availability.
I recommend against emailing as well because I am not sure that any 1 person is responsible for handling those; you might not get to the correct person and they seem more active on social media or just asking in person. This follows my above statement though that you might be asking the wrong person (not Karen or a brewer) and they may not know the answer or have been asked to not speak of certain things (Zwanze Day beer list).

I cannot think of a time that Cory said something to me and it didn't turn out to be accurate...I have not spoken to any brewer that collaborated with him but this goes with my above statement that he may not know certain details about a beer or release for beers; from what I understand, beer is generally sold from where it is distributed and can cause issues with collaborations (Jester King releasing Elements of Composition https://goo.gl/fYFYAf).

Not sure what your final line is but his beers are not unlimited because he can only brew so much of each beer and he tries his best to spread his beer around (there is not a perfect way to do this and he is not 100% successful with his efforts in everyone's minds). Side Project doesn't scratch the surface of pricing (Toppling Goliath) and I have had multiple insightful conversations with Cory discussing how he prices. He comes from the wine industry where pricing was based on demand and we all know that he could just offer Derivation to a membership at $1,000 per bottle and it would sell out but he chooses what he sees to be the best fit; specifically talking about Derivation, he has moved towards on-site only, opened and poured into a glass for you, and 1 bottle per person to try to spread them around as much as possible...there are people that break the rules and take vials, etc.

You thought i was being serious about BA Safe Terminal?? Didnt fit in with the Zwanze theme at all. Thought it would be funny since the base beer was either liked or loathed ...
