Thank you @Victory_Sabre1973 not only is this a new beer, but it's also a new style that I've been wanting to try. To bad it wasn't a new brewery youd have the trifecta.

Pours lightly cloudy gold. Foamy, medium, wet white head that Fades slowly with good lacing.

Smells orange, Peach, tropical, lightly floral and a hint of malt.

Taste grapefruit, orange, mango, guava, tropical and pine. Finishes dry with a floral in Citrus linger. Long lingering bitterness. Medium body and fizzy medium carbonation.

That ones actually called 495nm! I don't think other half has made a self titled IPA in a long long time. Glad you enjoyed tho!! that one I think is really nice and easy to drink, unlike most OH IPAs that are super heavy, juicy, and alcoholic

    Von Trapp pilsner
    ..clear gold orange color
..medium light body with average carbonation
..aroma is malt, cereal, grain, yeast and a little bit of floral hop
..taste is bitter right out of the gate, much more so than the aroma hints at. The bitterness lingers and sort of pushes the rest of the flavors to the side. Malt, cereal, and grain is there to be found but again was surprised by how bitter this is
..overall it's a very good beer, the most bitter pilsner I've ever had so that turned me off a bit[IMG]

Interesting. I never thought of King Crimson when looking at the cap, more of Rick and Morty.
Tourist-oriented weekends huh? What does that involve?

Now that you say that it might remind me more of Rick and Morty.

I am a tour guide on a walking tour that visits a few local brewpubs. So at least it is the best kind of tourists: those that like good beer.

    Synopsis:
Damnit Brian, you’re gonna ruin me for sours. This is right in my wheelhouse. Are the other 8 Speciations you sent me as good as this? Because this is stellar. Incredibly acidic and super tart. They must have used a ton of black currants to make this taste so jammy (stealing @kemoarps word here). You can even see the currants sticking to the side of the bottle after the pour. This is my favorite type of sour, and I’m fucking thrilled I have so many more of these to enjoy and share. Will be bringing at least one to our November share so @larryi86 @thebeers @JBowenGeorgia et al can try as well.

Haven't been here in a while, apologies for the absence!!
Back with some goodness from the current NBS BIF. This time its Yellow Rose SmaSh IPA from Lone Pint brewery out in texas that was sent to me by @Dwood1466

(thanks to Beercanvas and the I Drank Beer Show podcast (don't think either are on BA) for the glass!!)
After getting tons of rave reviews of this beer from folks after posting the pic on the BIF page, I decided to make this Single malt and single hop (aka smash) IPA my beer for this sunday. I was definitely not disappointed. ALSO. It was bottled on my birthday!! So it all just made sense. [IMG]

Pours a just there opaque golden color with a strong head, probably 3 fingers or so (which is partially cause I tend to pour rather hard). The head stays up for quite a while. 4
Smells like citrus (tangerine) and melons (I'm thinking cantaloupe), and I fucking love that. 4.5 for the smell
Taste? holy moly. Clean as all hell, and despite the simple ingredient list (3 + water!), its quite nuanced and in no way single note. starts off juicy, slightly citrusy, and then leads straight to a light bread, and then off to a floral note that I really really liked. Keeps going back between the mosaic hops and the pilsner malt, both being present and balanced in their contributions. Ends with a nice bitter hop note, but in no way intense or overpowering. 4.75 for taste.
The mouthfeel was also really nice!! clean, smooth, and slightly fluffy. definitely not thin, but nowhere near as thick as many of the IPAs that have taken over in the past year or so. 4.25

Overall, a 4.375, and an incredibly well done IPA. One that I would appreciate just about any day...a rare thing for me to say for the style. I think I need to hunt down more SmaSh!

Then I'm out. BCBS doesn't make it into NW PA, let alone any variants. The only BCBS I've gotten was either from a super-generous BIFer or by buying it on line at $ 20/bottle.

Nugget, a 4.2% ABV Session Pale Ale by Fourpure from the UK and Two Birds from Australia, using all Aussie hops.

Pours a clear, light golden amber coloration with a medium, fizzy head. Smell is quite hoppy, with light biscuity malt and notes of tropical/citrus fruit: papaya, tangerine and a hint of wet hay.

Taste follows the nose, being dominated by hoppy tropical/citrus fruit notes of papaya, mango and tangerine and hints of biscuity malt. wet hay, a light dankness and a little chalk. Finishes with a medium bitterness and some tropical notes lingering in the aftertaste.Smooth mouthfeel with a light body and medium/lively carbonation.

A decent Session Pale Ale with nice tropical/citrus notes, but a rather light body and light chalkiness.

I absolutely love seeing all the mystery beers in here tonight, by the way, really great idea. Real shame I won't be able to participate in a BIF like this :slight_frown:.

You're in luck it's mainly Americans, but if you want to learn French let me know and I'll be glad to accommodate you. Drinking and talking with random people is the best way to learn a language. Seriously, though, if you're ever up here let me know and I can either get you a ticket or give you a personalized tour.:beers:

New Beer Sunday: A German Marzen/Oktoberfest

Afternoon NBSers, with an alert for fans of Oktoberfest beers.

This afternoon’s new beer is the Lager Town Oktoberfest from Half Acre. (I’m still finding it hard to spend money on new, untried Oktoberfest beers this year, but now that the fest is over....)

As usual, my review, subject to revision until I finish the beer, can be found here:

    https://www.beeradvocate.com/beer/profile/18006/74629/?ba=drtth#review

The aromas/flavors of this Oktoberfest are full of the rich bready malt with some caramel or toffee and some earthy floral bitterness from the hops. While I mostly enjoyed this beer, after a while the earthy bitterness in the ending seemed to become just earthy and left me wanting to have it end sooner.

    Cheers, all!

My new beer for today is Bare Hands Double Thai Haze. A big boy beer at 8.8 % abv, uses both ElDorado and Citra hops. You might think this is just a hazy juice bomb, a bit sweet, but it's not. There's a little spice on the finish that a bit sharp. It says Thai spices and specialty yeasts. Loving these beers, there's a huge variety in their lineup everyone is a bit different. Sometimes these hazy beers fall into a blur of the sameness, but not with these. That finishing spice hit is as powerful as a Habenaro without all the heat. It's not an ingredient, it's not hot, but damn the finish lasts for 5 minutes and hangs on the back of your throat, like there's a touch of something with a bit of zest. Excellent.
