Other Half (October 2018)

Looks like they're having some trouble deciding which "Space" brew they're releasing, once again.

 

Considering making the drive from PA to Brooklyn for that lineup on Saturday. Really don't wanna wait in line at opening. Chances those beers last into early afternoon?

 

'The Other Day' was a not so talked about release a few months back that I thought was really good. Glad to see it's return. I forsee some of it in my fridge soon, along with whatever space beer actually gets released. I also can't wait to wear my hop showers shirt drinking a hop showers and screaming hop showers from the rooftop through my hand carved wooden 'Ricolaaaa' Alphorn.

 

Pretty good, stuff rarely sells out in the morning now unless its some crazy collab. They have way more tank space so that's how they can drop 7 beers a week now.

 

This. I got there at 10:05 this weekend and the line was already gone.

 

10/13 is my birthday. Glad they finally remembered this year

 

Outside of Space Daydream, all of these seem to have cryo hops in them. Will that make a noticeable difference to the taste? I skipped the OH cryo releases recently but was wondering what you're take is on them.

 

Anyone try today’s releases and have any strong opinions?

 

Thought Bubbles is pretty tasty, like I mentioned earlier it kinda reminds me of Florida Plates 2 but better because the acidity is much better incorporated, its very peach forward. I thought the Mosaic + Mandarina Bavaria was just ok, I was only picking up 2 4pks so I opted for Small Citra instead.

 

Had these both on tap Saturday. Mosaic/Mandarina was not my thing just had a weird taste to me, and I am a Mosaic *****, I did however really enjoy the Though Bubbles. Worth a 4 pack IMO.

 

Damn it! Saw these after I bought an M&M 4 pack. I just like to hit all the duel* hops. Gutted to hear it doesn’t jive with the jock palate. Obviously since I picked it up I’ll be forced to post in a week saying that it’s opened up amazingly and one of my fave Oh beers.

Had Double Sunset (Brazilian) taster while there. Put me in the still too sweet camp. Was very tasty, but 4oz plenty. I know it’s not apples to apples but something like BCBCS (on one of the good years) showcased coffee and high ABV and sweetness without being cloying. But full disclosure - I really don’t keep up with all the hype stouts in general these days - perhaps this is just the way things are going.

 

Looks like there is a Bissell event this weekend in Brooklyn. Think we’ll get a collab out of it? All reciprocal everything?

 

Trying to get my parents to swing by OH on Saturday while they’re in town. They’re pretty line averse, how long would you expect the wait would be if they got there between 10 and 11? If they go Sunday instead do you think triple Mosaic and DDH space will last?

 

There won't be a line of more than maybe 5-10 people between 10-11 on Saturday.

 

If they get there 10:45 there won't be a line for sure. By Sunday both those cans are likely to be gone

 

if that's something you're into, I would suggest Kane's Morning Bell. The amount of coffee has fluctuated year to year, but definitely not too sweet. Regular version is around 9-9.5%, BA version is over 10% - plenty of bourbon to it, but not overly sweet.

 

This batch of Diamonds is fantastic.

Anyone know if Other Half fills 192 ounce swing top growlers?

 

This would be incredible. Finally got to try Reciprocal this summer and was seriously impressed.
