I don't even think I've seen anyone have such a disdain for breweries from anywhere as much as this guy does. It's as if he comes on here just to trash the state's breweries. If you don't like them, then fine, just don't buy their beer. Why piss in everyone else's Cheerios?

Because I want actual good beer from my own state and most brewers here would rather just ignore criticism and get into pissing contests with their own customers?

This batch came out wrong. Everyone who had it knows that much. Everyone told Cypress that it came out wrong. What does Cypress do? "Well, we won't actually say we messed up but if you want we'll replace it with another beer that may or may not be messed up" and posts a pic of what looks to be yeast to basically flip off the people who got on them for Insane in the Grain not being hazy this past batch.

...Man, why do you even come to these forums. Everytime I see you pop up, you are just crapping on another brewery. Perhaps you should stick to the NY or New England forums; OR or or maybe just find a new hobby that doesnt get you so worked up.

Because I like beer and live in NJ and would love for NJ brewers to be good?

There's plenty of New Jersey beers that I like, but very few NJ breweries that I like. Our beer scene is dominated with brewers that just don't give a crap about the consumer, often blaming them for noticing flaws in their own product. I think we should demand better. I mean come on, look at this response. It's great that they'll replace whatever beer is given back to them, but notice how they don't admit any fault or even hint at what the issue was.

    Why is this ok?

The funny thing is that I don’t actually disagree with any of your points about quality product or service. Vote with your wallet.

The reason for my comment is that you paint a broad brush about NJ breweries with negative overtones and it creates the impression that you are anti-NJ brewery.

Also, the issues you cite are not specific to NJ brewers.

“Classic NJ brewer move” for example. What does that even mean? Plenty of breweries have responded the same way or less adequately.

I’m not suggesting you need to be a homer or accept subpar service or product. But, there are a lot of NJ breweries that are making good beer, and making the right decisions when it comes to the types of issues discussed above.

Someone uninformed or from outside the region reads that and it creates an overall negative impression.

I only took parts of your quote, but keep in mind that insurance most likely mitigated most of the cost to the brewery.

Inconsistencies regarding past releases aside, this batch of Imperial Runway Models is great. It's definitely worth picking up.

Had my first beer from Cypress this past week. It was a double dry hopped American Pale Ale called Dirty Jersey Devil. It was good, (3.5 out of 5) but I would not buy it again. I pulled the trigger because it was $12.99, which I thought was reasonable compared to similarly available beers. The guy at the store said the four packs were flying off the shelf. I’m really not sure why. It smelled pretty nice, and it certainly looked the part, but it wasn’t all that flavorful.

Funny I did the same thing. I’ve had a couple other beers from them in the past and was not a fan. Dirty Jersey was a fine pale. Agree wouldn’t buy again. I also picked up See What Had Happened Was and enjoyed it. Would recommend.

I was going to include it in a BIF box but decided against it upon trying it myself. I probably would’ve bought See What Happened Was at the same time of they had it. Probably will Pass unless I can find a single.

Interested in my hearing what other people think. I did not enjoy either of these two new releases, nor do I think most of their recent years were anything more than middle of the road for the style. It seems like they keep pushing out a double dry hop beers or New England style beers because that is what sells. But I think their real skill lies in Stouts and darker beers as well as their regular pale Ales. For example, 17 mile is a west coast IPA with interesting malt character that distinguishes it. I also liked Insane before they tweaked it. I get it they have to pay the bills. That's fine. But from my perspective they are not doing their best work.

Speaking to of dark beers have you tried the Imperial Porter with Vanilla? The one on the left?

    So what had happened was...

it was decent, especially for an off the shelf NEIPA. Given similar canning timelines - I'd probably take a Czig Deep Sea series over it, and I'd definitely take Wrench over it. Decent Taste, decent hop presence - but the mouthfeel was a little lacking IMO - especially for an 8.5% DIPA, i was expecting something a little more "full." It was good enough to get me to look at any other Cypress NEIPAs that may end up on the shelves the rare time i go to a liquor store for something other than BOAT, wine, or booze.

it was much better than the Icarus Brux Tale i picked up though. the one can I had was like drinking hop flavored water mixed with a tad bit of rubbing alcohol in it. Just 0 body and had a very slight boozyness to it that you'd expect from 10.5%+ TIPAs, not a 8% DIPA.

I tried all of the Alva beers (regular, vanilla and coffee). All very good to great for the style. Personally prefer base Alva (one on the right), because the vanilla kick was a bit too prominent for me.
