I'm just going to hit West Lake View liquors on Black Friday. They have to have an event and just aren't announcing it...right?

I like the idea of random variants to reduce the need for being #1 vs. #1000, but I think the cost factor would make that tough. The cost differences between the bottles would make it tough to "force" people to buy something for $50 or $85 (or whatever they charge for Rare).

I don't like the random variants for various reasons, but I like the idea that they just put one of the vintage bottles in there for you, and don't allow you a choice, which would prevent the big reasoning for some to line up at 5pm on Thanksgiving day while everyone else is eating/spending time with family.

IDK if this was in response to my comment but year I meant line 2. Full Allotment + a random vintage the package costs X.

Sucks that its so late in the day, I just want to be disappointed now instead of holding out hope for 6 hours, then the disappointment . Wasnt it at like 10-11 am the past few years?

You have company then. Have been an O'fer in Prop Day since inception. Streak has to end sometime doesn't it?

Have a friend whose wife won and thought he said they went out by 1pm or so IIRC.

I'd say "yes" but that's exactly the mindset that has me refreshing my inbox for 2 weeks.

I should've said random vintages instead of random variants...my mistake. Random variants would not make sense since they've already stated what the full allocation is.

I like the idea of random vintages to speed up the line, but don't know how they'd do it with a fixed cost considering the different prices of some of the vintages. Plus, if I got Prop 2016, I might start crying.

    :joy:

As far as the random vintage prices... just put a random vintage with the other 12 bottles. Automatically assign the cost of that vintage to the case. That person walks up, they get told what vintage bottle is included and the cost of the allotment. They either choose to take the vintage or not take it. *Shrug*

Sounds about like my experience last year, only I think it was closer to 11:30 before I was out of there. Told myself I'd never do that again.

    See everyone again this year!

So only one round of disappointment this year? Makes it a little easier to digest the sorrow.

Damn, I should have sued over the infected BCBS a few years back and just settled for right to purchase two Prop Day tickets each year for life...

I'm still holding out for the altruism release method for BCBS. The first 1,000 people to volunteer 8 hours at soup kitchens on Thanksgiving get the Black Friday releases. (with the irony that everyone would bitch about it, but somehow has 8 hours to stand in line doing nothing for normal release)
