I hate the fact that a lot of people are “on” craft beer. If there is a limited release, you basically have to drop what you’re doing and get to your beer store right when they get said release or you’re not going to get any.

I, actually, think that this is one of the best parts of craft beer. While everyone else is out waiting in lines or missing work to buy the newest release, I'm sitting at pubs that have great beer that most beer dorks don't care about because they're not hazy, spiced, or fruited. Happiest bit about craft beer culture, really. At least for me it is.

Most sour beers suck. After a summer of trying different kinds, flavors, fruited and unfruited there's only a few I've liked. A couple gose have been ok and a couple of lagunitas sours were good to me. (I did try some more fancy stuff than gose and lagunitas sours)

Ones I didn't like were either 1. Dry and sour, but with little or no actual flavor other than funk and sour. 2. Tasted like sour rotted fruit 3. Tasted like straight up vinegar.

The price of these beers just to cringe through the whole thing is just too much. I'm sure there are more I'd like if I search, but I'm done wading through shit to find a piece of corn.

Idk if lindeman cuvee renee counts as traditional, but I didn't care for it... I'm sure I'll still try more sours in the future, I'm just frustrated with them at the moment.

I suggest you pour a small taste and if it's unpalatable mix it with a quart of Miller High Life.

Haha, I don't have any high life on hand... but maybe an IPA? You got my brain going, I always forget about mixing beers. I don't have any sours to water down at the moment, but I'll remember that.

Sure, or other lagers and pale ales. Back in the Summer I went through a number of tart/sour things and wound up mixing the more extreme ones with a somewhat neutral beer. I mention High Life specifically because it's sweetness and body offset the sharp tartness and thin texture of Sours however made. A good Pale or Golden Ale will do as well but Miller is widely available and cheap enough so that the mixing beer will not be wasted.

Toppling Goliath, Russian River, 3 Floyds, Surly, Hoof Hearted, Horus and Tired Hands are insanely over rated.

Pils, Lagers and Brut IPA's are trash

I'm with you on all of the other ones, but Russian River couldn't be rated highly enough to be over rated.

So . . . you're going to compare a beer that's been around for centuries, an entire style of beer, and a flash in the pan "style" that nobody will be talking about next year? Sure, that's a good look.

Wow! You really hate Pilsners! I mean, insofar as Pilsners are lagers. That is some double fisted dislike right there!!

Where did I compare any of those three to anything else? Without comparing them to anything I'd still say they are garbage all on their own merit. I know there are millions out there who enjoy those particular styles, I however do not. Y'know its one of those controversial OPINIONS that this whole thread is dedicated too. If Pils, Lagers and Brut IPA's were the only thing available, I'd drink water.

    First of all, this . . .

I'm pretty much with you on the Brut IPA bit, but saying that all lagers are garbage is not only silly, but demonstrably wrong.

My apologies, should have read as Pils/Lagers. Either way the sentiment is the same, I really don't like them. I respect those that do enjoy the style as all beer is subjective, I just prefer a fuller flavored beer that's all.

I'm down with you not liking Pils, but if you don't think they have a lot of flavor, you're drinking the wrong Pils.

That would be your OPINION sir. My OPINION is that they are garbage. Following me here? Beer is as subjective as anything else in the world. I respect the fact that you like them, I think they are about as enjoyable as a tall glass of toilet water.

If you're going to come with "all Pils are garbage", you're going to have to have a better reason than "It's my opinion, man!"

This is where I would start to compare things. A pils compared to a BA stout, robust porter, strong ale, barleywine or even a pale, would be lacking in flavor. I personally find them to be the definition of lite beer.
