Definitely frustrating when that happens 8 times though. I figured I'd be lucky once. Oh well.

Insanity. I thought CBS was about the limit for a proven barrel aged beer from a well-known brewery and I actually passed on that. This is a smaller format for more money making it effectively 150% more costly. Amazing what hype can do...but awesome for More owners. Very well run business so far.

I fully agree with this. I think doing the lines sometimes and doing online sales sometimes is a good way to mix it up. I've missed out sometimes because of both of them, and been successful sometimes at both of them, and can understand why some people like each of them. I've usually been a proponent of online sales/lotteries, but I do see the allure of in person lines as a way to "control your own destiny" to ensure you get a bottle.

In what world. Its a 25$ beer. That makes it 1.47 per ounce. Which makes it a 32$ bomber. I don't think its fair to count the ticket fee. You don't count tax when you buy a bottle in store.

I like the online ticket sale, which I was fortunate enough to get bottles of Henna B3, because it give's someone like me - not super willing to wait in lines for beer - a chance to get something special. I didn't score a ticket to this bottle, but there was 0 chance I was going to wait in line for it.

Hype is certainly part of it but they fact of the matter is that popularity of craft beer has driven up pricing for top beers. More is a proven stout producer. BCBS variants are quickly approaching or have already reached the same levels.

That could be, since it was listed in ML I was just using 750 ML as the comparison point. Not including any fees or anything, an equivalent 750 ML bottle is $37.50. Not sure how much the ticket fee is but it probably pushes it to just about $40.

I do count the tax when I buy a bottle in the store, but maybe that's jsut me.

A bomber is 22oz. 1.47*22 is $32.50. Why would you count tax? The brewer had nothing to do with that.

Alright, that's fair enough, I was using the term bomber loosely.

Yea. I get what your saying! Certainly an expensive beer but seems to be par for the course for breweries of this size and quality. The choice not to can was interesting. I wonder how much the glass, wax, etc costs factor into the total.

I guess I just find it hard to believe the costs of production have escalated this much compared to just a few years ago. I'm not buying anything about the glass/wax/etc. driving the price like this.

looks like Karma was aged 10 months in BT and HH barrels. anyone know the details on the aging for the previous BA Hennas (how long, which barrels, etc.)? Can't seem to find it anywhere

    That's because they haven't

Let's be honest, the costs have not drastically changed, just some breweries have been REAL good at marketing. These prices are not par for the course although I get where Jlsims is coming from with escalating prices. Out of all the breweries in this populated area, there are only two charging these prices...Mikerphone and More. You don't see this from other comparable sized breweries...Wild Onion Drago, Hailstorm's BA beers, Pollyanna BA Chain Letter, Metal Monkey BA Asmodeus, list goes on...

I think the sooner people realize that they're not going to get every release, nor do they need every release , they will enjoy beer more

I enjoy beer so much more now than I did in my first two or three years, and I attribute that largely to limiting the amount of things I feel I need to try and realizing that there's always going to be another release in the same vein that I can either get easier or at the very least get another shot at.

I don't begrudge tickers because it's harmless to me what others' drinking habits are, but in my experience, ticking begets more ticking and makes the ones you do miss out on seem magnified.
