I wish these guys would figure out their distribution and demand in certain areas. In Michigan it is almost unheard of to see BCBS on even the Sunday after Thanksgiving.

Yeah BCBS supply was very low last year in the Detroit area and every place was practically sold out on black Friday. I dont think Michigan even got any of the varients outside of a few rumored stores on the westside.

Still got the only bomber I bought last year, the wife wants me to drink it with her... but she's never in the mood for dark beers. I had enough on tap, I'll have enough on tap this year too. No need for another bottle

I guess I've changed my mind on this one. If I happen to see it, I will pick up a bottle, but I will not seek it out.

I'd be shocked if the ticketed bottle release that starts tomorrow sells out.

I won't seek it out either - they'd have to bring it to my door, and even then I'd make them knock several times, and beg me. I'm not easy

Id be shocked too. I think only the weekends sold out instantly last year and it looks like bottle release is a little different this year too. It is same allotment but you can pick it up any day 11/1 - 11/4 instead of individual days.

I'm sure this will pop up on draft so I'll be happy drinking that. But the 750 ml format and price is enough to keep me from seeking out.

Well that's true of 99% of beers. But I didn't like either.

Having missed this release previously, I freely admit I bought a ticket and will be one of those people waiting outside on 11/1 to pick up a couple bottles of CBS. Will try one now and let one sit for a year or so.

Out of curiosity, when you guys crack open a bomber, are you obligated to then finish it that sitting (by yourself or with family/friends)? Or would you ever put one of those bottle cork things into it to save it for later that week? Do those things even work for beer?

    The beer sucks but...

Through another thread on BA, I bought one of those $6 champagne stoppers and it definitely works to preserve beer for another couple of days.

    Caveats:
    - Some bottle openings/bottle designs work better than others. Because there's no standardized bottle shape, it works on most but definitely not all designs. I have more problems with 12oz than 22/750s, but I've been able to fit it with all 22/750s except one bottle whose neck was too thick.
    - If you do use a stopper, than open it a couple days later... and then re-stop it. And open it up a different day... that usually will end poorly. I've noticed that once you de-stop it, you should finish it or risk rapid loss of carbonation.

That makes sense. Thank you, I will check out some of the stopper options at my local store soon!

I cracked one open last week and it seemed worlds better than the one I had when it was released. I def agree that some time has really benefited CBS, Delish now.

18 CBS is already in distribution. Local craft beer bar just got a keg today and they are waiting for a tap to open up to put it on. When they do I will bring in a 17 bomber to do a side by side comparison between a fresh draft and an aged bomber.

Pass. I enjoyed my bottle in 2011 but probably wouldn't do it again. If I see it on-tap I'll give it a go

Bad timing as Bells is about to distribute 4 packs of BA Expedition Stout. I’d have to say that if I were staring down a 750ml of CBS and a 4 pack of BA Expedition on the shelves I’d grab the Expedition as it’s a damn good beer and cheaper per ounce....

I'm amazed when people say it is sitting on the shelf. Here it was gone within a day.

I will pick up a few bottles if I have the opportunity

Really looking forward to picking this up in two weeks. Will slowly enjoy one bottle and save one for next year.

Coming from someone who has actually done this with a 2017 CBS (using a stopper), I felt the beer dropped off quickly. I opened it and drank half. Used the stopper and came back for a pour 24-hours later and it had flattened out considerably. Had half a pour left the following day (so, 48 hours since opening) and that half-pour ended up being a drain-pour.

I think part of the reason folks are bent over not getting this in 12oz 4-packs is for this very reason.

This is a hard beer to put down in a single sitting.

IMO - you're either sharing or you're saving and if you've searched hard for this beer, both those options suck.
