I do not like the taste of a Pilsner, or lack there of for that matter. I have tried more than I ever cared to in hopes of finding one I would enjoy and they are all the same for me; garbage. I'm sure there is something that you thoroughly do not enjoy that many others do, same thing happening here bud.

So you're saying that you've tried it and Victory's Prima Pils is lacking in flavor?

You don't like a style of beer. OMG that is so controversial!

So, you're saying that if the beer isn't high gravity it can't be high flavor?

Also, the Pils that I drink could stand toe to toe with any pale ale flavor-wise. Easily.

I liked it better when I thought you really, really hated Pilsners.

    Cheers!

Never said I've tried them all, but I've tried enough to know I dislike them.

Stating a personal preference as a universal truth doesn't make you a bold truth-teller, it just makes you an asshole.

I know I listed mainly high grav brews but no, that wasn't what I was getting at. I just personally feel like they are lacking. too many other offerings at just about any brewery or bar to waste time on a pils

    We don't agree much, but . . .

In my world it is a universal truth. Pretty sure there is something you believe to be absolute truth in your world that someone else would disagree with, does that make you an asshole also? You can make a point without childish name calling also, but that takes a level of maturity to understand I see you don't have.

Must be because I'm getting quite a bit of attention for my comment. Anything of value to add to the topic or is the half witted comment all you have to offer?

    I’ve got one.

I’m getting ready for a huge Cask festival here in Toronto on the weekend. Trying to narrow down what I’d most like to try of the several hundred casks that will be there.

Here it is: I like American IPAs in Cask. I think they are great. West Coast, East Coast. New England, probably even Milkshake (I’ll try one on Friday to find out). All good.

Sure, it is a different experience than on tap or in a can or bottle, but it is still a really good beer experience for me. I had some great Other Half DIPAs in Cask last year and am glad to see they are back.

In fact, I think the only styles I have not liked in Cask are Pale German lagers. Everything else is really enjoyable.

Never had an IPA in Cask, sounds interesting though. Let us know if there are standouts from the fest!

Understood. Though I can't compliment you on your taste, I will compliment you on your dogged defense of an untenable position.

I'll go ahead and agree with your "controversial" opinion.

IMO, any type of beer that should have effervescent carbonation suffers when served on cask. I've had some that "worked", but not to the extent that they would have if they had higher levels of carbonation.

Well, if you're comparing them to the most bold, alcoholic styles, then yeah. Except all beer isn't a stout, barleywine, strong ale, nor should it be expected to. Totally unfair. Most styles aren't those things for a reason. That doesn't mean they are "lacking" or "light". This is one of the downsides to people becoming more accustomed to "extreme" trends and thinking they're the norm. You miss out on hundreds of years, dozens of expressions. Just like America's beer scene, you're still young.

If you can't t appreciate a pils you probably have a lot of other flaws as a human.

You DEFINITELY have heads in the freezer if you don't like Pils.

While I agree with you, I still don't think this is the whole shootin' match.

Lagers tend to be thought of as beers with less flavor than their ale counterparts. This could not be more untrue. They simply have different flavors and, in general, aren't as sweet as ales. A lot of people gravitate towards the ester forward profile of ales, as opposed to the sulfur compound forward lager.
