    Second this, but could there additionally be a quantifiable number of participations in the Hints thread that are spelled out in advance? I.e. something along the lines of “in this BIF we all agree to post at least 10 hints, be active on the thread at least 3x per week, etc”. Not sure on the specific numbers. That way at least those who know they’re going to be too busy to actively contribute can steer clear of this BIF, and new participants are alerted up front as to the norms for participation.

    This round was weird for me because my target guessed me after 1 hint lol.

    Then had some real life stuff come up making me much busier at work over these last couple weeks. I've been pretty involved in these H&H threads before and kind of let my participation slip this round.

    Like @Vidblain I was originally in the softer-feelier camp of "against," but as you can tell from my latest post, I'm now more for it.

    I like the idea of some minimum number of appearances in NBS. Three appearances, for example, would be a minimum of 3 weeks. Or a combination: at least 1 month since first NBS appearance, and a minimum of 3 separate appearances?


    I also agree with normalizing some of the expectations at the outset. Something like:

    -Minimum beer amount
    -At least 1 food item
    -At least 1 swag item

    -At least 5 total hint posts (separate posts, not just one list of 5 hints at the beginning and then peace out)
    -Direct response to call-outs (necessitating checking at least once per week on the thread)
    -Posting in advance if the member will be in absentia for greater than a week (if known ahead of time, of course)

    I also don't know what the numbers need to be. I don't think mandating social interaction is a great idea in general, so I think if we instituted any requirements, we should focus on measurable contributions: not some # of posts or "hey how ya doin" things, but specific thinks like hints.

    I'm sure there's something I'm overlooking.

    Just glad you're able to be here. Sorry I guessed you right away, just so many excluded themselves so fast with me. I almost called out @Ozzylizard , based on his hints, but then he gave one that totally excluded me.

    I know I'm so damn lucky to be the one you've sent to. Your packages just have knocked it out of the park.

    I'm continuing to slowly work my way through the lovely Hopping Frog horizontal I got from @Ozzylizard . I really liked the original and so the next logical step seemed to be the Reserve. From what I can gather this is the same beer with "premium/fancy" ingredients (imported!):astonished::astonished::astonished::astonished:. I am curious if it is noticeably different our better, or maybe even worse. Who knows....

    It pours a super thick oil black with a tight finger of dark cinnamon colored head that is not long for this world.
    Licorice and chocolatey roast flavors and aromas predominate. The nose is pretty roasty and chocolatey, while dark fruits and molasses are added to the mix in the flavor. It is a little bit warming from the alcohol and has a big, sticky body to it with low carbonation. This is another very solid stout from these guys!

    When you think about it, making the same beer with "better" ingredients is a pretty damn ballsy move since it kind of plants a seed of doubt in the customer's head as far as the quality of the normal ingredients. Anyway, this one gets a pass cause it was delicious regardless.

    Speaking of that: a dear friend of mine, who is a MAJOR MILF stopped in to work today to say hi. Haven't seen her in so damn long. The problem is we both work all the time, and just are never are able to hang out and enjoy a beer together. I'd gladly share a MILF with her.

    Finally caught up with all boxes sent to date in my ounces spreadsheet. Wow, you guys. Several of the guesses made on total ounces are already out of the running.

    Also I noticed some inbalances in BIF karma. Unless I missed something, the following people have not been ninja’d this round.

    I am very, very antisocial (I'm currently trying to figure out how to scheme out of my own farewell; I'm pretty good at poofing out of events even when I'm supposed to be the focal point). So I don't like telling people they have to be more social, because it's hypocritical of me.

    But some minimum level of activity? Of hint-dropping, beer-reviewing, haul-sharing?

    That's just fair.
