    Lol. Spoken like a true Sox fan. My team is the Braves (NL) and I only really hate the other NL east teams, the giants and the Yankees. I usually root for the Sox's in the AL and I really like this Astro's team, so I have no dog in this at all, and I definitely think Mookie's glove was in the stands. If he's in the stands they are allowed to push his glove.

    As others have said, often times the deer will survive long enough to limp off into the woods and die from the wounds. But I'd be lying if I said I never ended up with venison as a result of deer and drivers not paying attention...

    As a kid we always used to joke about eating Bambi and Thumper, ha.

    The antlers can be useful too. But yeah, mostly the deliciousness part. People up here think they're cute and feed them and they become part of the tourist attraction. Same with damn Raccoons!! Blows my damn mind.

    Glad y'all walked away safe, and hope the car is a total. Looks like the deer evacuated its bowels along your grill there!

    I've only hit like two or so personally, but they're a common occurrence up here. Am actually currently up on the island visiting the folks and was explaining to my brother's gf how especially at night the biggest danger driving around is a deer jumping out from the side last minute, and that's why I drive closer to the middle of the road.

    I'm just having fun, I didn't actually see the play, just read about it on the web and heard discussion on the radio this morning (on NPR of all places).
    I hope the sox win, but I'm not a big baseball fan. One of the biggest reason I hope they win is because I received a $50 bet that they win as a trade extra from a vegas buddy before the season started...nearly $600 pay out!

    Yeah, he will be in Boston for the IPA fest, so If I win I will buy him a Harpoon or something as a thank you. (I have a bunch of nice bottles waiting for him really)

    That is good to know! My brother just bought a house down in Austin so I'll have an excuse to visit for the foreseeable future...

    When a player leaves the field to make a play, he does so at his own risk:

    According to MLB Rule 3.16, "When there is spectator interference with any thrown or batted ball, the ball shall be dead at the moment of interference and the umpire shall impose such penalties as in his opinion will nullify the act of interference."

    The rule further states that "no interference shall be allowed when a fielder reaches over a fence, railing, rope or into a stand to catch a ball. He does so at his own risk. However, should a spectator reach out on the playing field side of such fence, railing or rope, and plainly prevent the fielder from catching the ball, then the batsman should be called out for the spectator's interference."

    I heard the fan had a 10 foot pole with a feather on the end that he extended 10 feet onto the field to tickle Mookie's ear.
