Other Half (October 2018)

Not releasing IPAs until they are ready... hmm... Seems like a new approach for OH.

 

Dollar Slice is most likely the start of a new series, so I'm sure they are extra cautious about making sure it's good to go at drop

 

Completely fine with that. Hated the Panna e fragole collab in IPA form and I'm confident the adjuncts will work better in a stout. Especially with added chocolate

 

so has this stout been brewing since march when crak was here for the last collab? or were they in town for the fest in june? i dont remember. either way it seems like a long time to brew a stout no?

 

Can't wait for the pineapple/ham slice debate.

 

Pineapple on pizza is good if there are spicy ingredients involved too (e.g. jalapenos, spicy sopressata, etc.). Haters to the left.

 

Nothing to my knowledge is ever brewed for this long, haha. If you mean fermenting or ageing or resting or resting in barrels or conditioning in bottles, not uncommon at all.

 

That 7 month boil for that extra thicc body.

 

Little behind the times, but stopped at the beer table in the Oculus by WTC, grabbed a Mason jar pint of OH Azacca for my train back to Jersey. It was quite nice.

But damn, I gotta do a proper brewery visit soon, it's been a while.

 

I can't even fathom how much that cost. Whole Foods Tribeca has been getting a ton of Other Half kegs recently, and also sells 16oz growlers to go. Pretty close to the Oculus, and I have to assume it's much cheaper.

 

The places they can go with this whole pizza motif is pretty unlimited. Hawaiian Pizza debate coming for sure as mentioned above. Squares. Street slice. Fancy pizza. Fresh mozz and basil. Can’t wait to see how this goes.

But as far as beer that has been released, I gotta say this last batch of double Citra daydream may be my favorite thing they’ve put out in months. It’s perfect.

They need to do a collaboration with Lucali for this series.

 

I pointed out sometime ago that Monkish did a collab with some local pizza place in which they used their yeast or something, and that OH should do something with Di Fara. But regardless of Di Fara, Lucali or Emily's it would be a hype train.

 

$9 + $3 for the "reusable to go pint". however, i get 15% off there. Came out to $17.50 or so for the glass, fill, and an LIC coded tiles can. Not great, but i've paid more for shittier beer. While WF Tribeca may be cheaper, it's a bit out of the way considering my office location to the PATH train.

 

When did OH start charging sales tax?

Update: they don’t, it’s included on the receipt though.

 

Are the stouts on tap?

 

And/or did anyone crack a bottle yet?

 

I was just on a short line at Grimm and some guys said the other half stouts were really good. That's all I got

 

Anyone who doesn’t like pineapple on pizza know anything?
