I don’t remember being excited about it last two years but this round was definitely something to talk about and buy twice. I was worried about my growler fill too, the Whole Foods didn’t have a hose, tried to tell me the foam was normal, they easily wasted four fills in my one.

Just finished a bottle of Yakima... Quite nice, but I do prefer Stalker for sure. A bit more "punch" that I like.

    Exactly.

I happened to luck into a keg of hop stalker for a pour minutes after it was tapped and dear God that had always been my favorite fresh hop (and arguably favorite ipa altogether) but what I drank today was just divine. Exploding with vibrant flavor. Really a shame they didnt package it.

I briefly chatted with the store owner who mentioned that he had heard their new equipment at the facility was german engineered, and suitable for beers without adjuncts. However a batch of spooky tooth somehow went awry in the system due to adjuncts and backed up their brewing schedule.

I also picked up some yakima fresh and born again. Hop stalker was the unrivaled best but yakima is no slouch. Its remarkable how fresh and green this beer tastes. Born again is... solid for a beer you'd see in a breweries regular rotation, but nothing to qualify as a one off or "one hitter" implying superior quality IMO.

Btw if anyone's looking for yakima in the Youngstown area Chalet Premier had about 20 cases of it this morning.

Anyone else have Click Bait and think is was kind of, as Larry David might put it..”ehh?” Hop Stalker was awesome, though. Same with Wake the Dead.

Yes. Was there this afternoon. Most NE style IPAs strike me this way. Most don’t have enough hop bite for my liking. I understand that one would find it underwhelming, especially after the big flavor of a hop stalker.

Only downside of the hop stalker was the glassware choice. Would have rather had something more like a tulip or Belgian than a standard glass you would expect to get with a Pilsner.

I’ve had plenty of NEIPAs that knocked my socks off. I don’t personally have anything against the style (although I definitely prefer West Coast style IPAs over hazy IPAs) but Clickbait did nothing for me. If I had to put it up against some of the hazy IPAs I’ve had from JAFB recently, the JAFB beers drop kicks Fatheads take on the style, at least in my opinion. Plenty of people were drinking it when I was there today, though. It’s almost a requirement to have one of two available at this point.

Warehouse Beverage in South Euclid has been sold, after being on the market for quite a while. It's been a family owned bidness for at least two generations and was the overwhelming source of most of my craft beer purchases with Paul, the brother who did most of the beer purchases, being a good resource of the ins and outs of local distribution. The new owner, I think his name is Phillip, is Indian (don't read anything negative into that; so is my son in law, of whom I'm very fond) and seemed less than pleased that I brought my avatar, Teddy, in than Paul and Mike, who gave him treats, were. That's ok, Teddy can get used to not going there just like every other place.

What I did notice yesterday when I went in looking for pumpkin beer for the group tasting was how bare the shelves were of quirky choices that I used to have a large selection of, particularly bombers. Maybe this is a function of the distributors concentrating on IPAs more but when I went to the Wine Spot afterward I saw the type of selection I was used to seeing at Warehouse in the past, particularly with a lot of Evil Twin choices I'd never seen before. I'm taking a wait and see attitude on what Phillip does with the store but it's definitely the end of an era for me.

As of Friday, waiting on a CO2 line to be installed. The cans are in, saw them spinning a few to practice while there.

Good tower of it as of Friday at Market District. Seemed to be going fast.

Hop Juju at Grandview GE Market District. Man, best time of year for hop heads when you add in Yakima. A couple 4-packs of Konkey Dong doesn't suck either.

CBC Citra Noel this week as well. Still think it’s one of the most underrated beers they brew

Wow...I was just in there last week. I had no idea they were gonna sell the place. I remember going in there as a kid when my dad would get homebrew ingredients. They always gave me a pretzel or a free bag of chips. Super nice guys. This definitely saddens me.

Thanks for the advice y’all! The GE Market District still had a fair bit. Grabbed some of the Mosaic Insane Wanderer too, and one 4pack of JuJu from this mini drop. ‘‘Twas a nice, hoppy day. Citra Noel was there as well, but I thought I’d wait a bit on that...

I had the same experience at my normal giant eagle. Bodhi, juju, wanderer, wet work, and yakima within reach of each other. Not complaining, but would rather see juju released a month or so earlier or later so it doesn’t compete with the fresh/wet hop offerings.
