I really don't think you guys believe that the one thing this thread just absolutely needs is "more topless dudes."

It may not be what we want, but maybe it's what we need.

The theme of this one is a celebrities 8 orifices. It'll be a hard slog to get classier from here.

Dude, thank you so much again - completely unnecessary. And yes, if anything, it exceeded my expectations!

As I mentioned in my earlier post, I just picked up two cases worth of mostly-Florida beer. I'm not saying retaliation will be headed your way in the future, I'm just implying you shouldn't rule it out. :grinning:

As soon as I typed it, I knew there was a very real possibility that "More Topless Dudes" would become the next BIF theme.

OK, that I did not anticipate.

(Besides, I've got my next 3 planned already, so .... nothing like a good delayed adolescence, amirite???)

    @Dragginballs76 @beertunes
OK, since I'm active and drinking, some disclaimers first:

    1) It's bright as fuck in my bathroom; hence the angry face.
    2) My skin is very angry and red. When it heals, all the red will fade into a very light gray. There should be plenty of contrast.

The theme is Danse Macabre: the Dance of Death, as first illustrated in the late middle ages. I became fascinated with it when obtaining my history degree in the mid-'00s. The art and themes are scattered, but the principle figures are often a laborer, emperor, pope, and child. Most art does not show a child, and instead substitutes a different fourth figure - all of them dancing, naturally, for death.

After some very personal issues, I started planning my own work based on this theme, around 2011 or 2012. I knew I wanted to capture the style of middle ages art, and I definitely wanted those principle figures: the poor, the rich, the young, the saintly.

It took a lot of research and planning, and then multiple consults and three sessions over the most of the past year, to finish this off.

First, the figures themselves, back in February when it was only line work:

I didn't grab any after the shading sessions, so here's the completed (but very much not yet healed) product:

(I'm sparing you all from my stupid, stupid face.)

This one definitely freaks some people out, because it isn't ... well, it isn't particularly happy.

This brings me up to 7 distinct pieces, all upper body and sleeves-in (a good sandwich delivery man needs to look professional, after all). Every one is personal, custom, and painstakingly designed by me (and then made way better by an actual artist lol). None are actually for my profession, although that's in the works.

AND: all after the age of 30, too - so yeah, I'm not young and stupid, I'm just stupid. :grinning:

Next up a stout sent to me by @Blackop555 from Oddside Hazel's Nuts. A BBA Hazel Nut stout. I have had this before and loved it. the review below is an edited one I did from the past but nothing has changed about how much I love this beer. Thanks Henry.

Appearance 4.25 - Pours dark chestnut color with nice thick tan head. lost of stringy lacing down the glass.

Aroma 4.5 - This thing is loaded with hazelnut for sure, lots of dark roasted malts and coffee beans. there are hints of oak not getting a ton of bourbon but you can tell it is lurking.

Taste 4.5 - Wow this thing hits the mark, wonderful hazelnut more dark chocolate and coffee. There seems to be a good bit of vanilla as well and just a touch of bourbon and oak. This thing is really well balanced all of the flavors play well together and nothing overpowers.

Feel 4.5 - Full bodied creamy mouth feel very smooth slightly warming from the alcohol.

Overall 4.49 - A wonderful hazelnut stout, I am surprised at how easy drinking this is to be a 10% stout. The flavors are so good I

Jesus, Brian - slow down already, man! Great box!

Excellent line work @Roguer - the red shading is terrific. It's amazing how much time it takes to do that stuff. I'm a fan of the theme - I was an English major (with most of a History/classical studies minor) in college and really loved a lot of the Danse Macabre artwork you'd find in period writing from my British literature classes. Dark stuff.

I started getting tattooed at 18, then basically stopped when I bought a house at 32, but generally got a new piece every birthday. There are still many, many more that I'd like to have - some day. I'm a huge HR Giger fan and would love to have a Xenomorph or some biomech stuff on the remaining blank space on my right arm.

@Dragginballs76 - love the Fallout theme. That would make for a kickass tattoo.

Speaking of @FlintB - it seems that karma, and Brian, have caught up to me. This 34 lb monstrosity was left on my porch today.

Apparently Brian broke in to Speciation and stole every vintage that they've ever made and bottled. Christ, man. This is too much.

Plenty of dust on these bottles leads me to believe that Brian has pre-aged quite a few of these beers for me. Can't articulate how exciting this is. My sour share crew is planning an even in early November and I hope to open several of these beers with them.

But that's not everything. Brian also included PGW, and a Transient sour, and a Hill Farmstead bottle.

I love these glasses - the simplicity of the stemless glass makes it quite attractive to me, and the stemmed glass is beautiful, too! I don't think enough glasses use that grey-gunmetal text. I love how understated it is. Thank you, Brian - you know how much I love glasses, and PGW is a way of life.

This is a five star box of amazing beers, and I'm so thankful. Cheers, Brian - you're the man. I'm still planning on sending you a box of sours at some point, but I know you're drowning from multiple BIFs and the war, of course. Some day! Tell me when you're ready, please!

A good friend of mine has an upper arm Giger sleeve - from the top of the shoulder through the elbow. He asked his artist to just make some Giger-kind-of-thing, and it's an intricate, incredibly detailed piece that must have taken a dozen hours to finish, not counting consults and drawing.

Oh yeah, that one .... that was no fun. 3.5 hours that ranged from the sternum to the collarbone to the armpit to the nipple ... it was torture. But it's probably my favorite piece. My son was, I want to say 4 when I got it. He's developmentally disabled, but when he saw it he said, "Ohhhh .... it's BEAU-tiful!"

(My left chest is for him; it was my first ever.)

I guess we'll just have to have a redo share in the future.

Awesome work! I feel like we need a BIF ink thread now.

That area around the armpit must’ve felt not too pleasing. Like the art and how it has meaning for you.
