Picked up some Born Yesterday. Dissapointed. Not bad, but not it's former flawless self. Seems a bit clearer this year than last? Changing up the brewing process? Probably my only 6 this year.

Buddy and I had a WET again yesterday after taking the boat lift in for the season, dumped half of it out. Terrible!

That sucks. You're only going to have half a boat lift next season.

This thread is such a bummer - maybe I'll start popping over to the MN NE IPA thread and list every mediocre overpriced can of hazy nonsense that I've poured out over the past year.

Had Bang's This over the weekend, quite tasty and interesting. Kind of a creamy mouthfeel - definitely not some hyper hop juice bomb or whatever people are expecting from these wet hop beers but it had a lot going on.

Montgomery brewing just released their "*****ook" and "Zeus" wet hop beers. Montgomery is always a solid bet, love their double IPA but haven't had a chance to grab one of the fresh hops ones yet. We also just got Fulton's Hopstar and the Indeed Fresh Hop at the end of last week. Really looking forward to the Indeed, as I love their flavorwave standard IPA.

Wet hops really bring out the 'my subjective tastes are the rule of the land' qualities in a beer apparently.

Castle Danger Mosaic has been the class of the field. Except for the price.

    Updated thoughts.

CD is really good and unlike last year edges out BY this time.

BY still on point but with a nice lingering bitter edge.

I am warming up to Wet. Maybe it was a little "green" and needed a few days aging.

Indeed is a pretty solid fresh hop beer. It still has a little bit of sulpher nose but not the off putting after taste from last year,

Can't go wrong with BY or CD mosaic. Wet didn't really hit the spot for me and I actually found it sweet and not having enough of that piney resiny hop bite that BY and mosaic have. I'd go with BY based on price.

CD mosaic was $16.99 at TW, BY $12.99/6pack.

Pleasantly surprised by Finnegans Brew Running With Axes. More than a bit skeptical going into this as it uses Mighty Axe hops exclusively and I have not really enjoyed Minnesota grown fresh hop beers before. I think it was $10.99 a sixer.

Agree w all those happy w CD Mosaic. For me it had a couple off years recently, but this is every good as I remember it the first time they released it in the taproom only. While expensive, this pint makes me very happy.

I am surprised by all of the Wet bashing- I thought it was very good this year. Classic style, good body and nice flavor, not for the haze fans if that is what people are expecting.

A lot of people bash Surly, because they were really attached to the brand of 'Todd Haug' it had created. (If you didn't personally know the man, you only knew the brand image of him.) They overlook the reality that Omar lost a million plus dollar law suit due to a police put in place when Todd's wife was the general manager of the restaurant, and that such a thing is a very legitimate reason (or millions of legitimate reasons) to cause animosity between people.

I digress, so how about those wet/fresh hop beers? How are the examples people have had from the lesser talked about breweries?

I'm going to assume you meant "policy" instead of "police" in your post.

Assuming that, I hadn't really put this together. Was this the reason for firing Linda and what started the fracture between Todd & Omar? If so, I'll at least commend all sides for keeping things civil at least publicly. I've seen things turn uglier over much less money.

Yes, Surly has become the Nickleback of brewing around here. I too was impressed with Wet. CD is very good, just too expensive imo.
