Yeah, I don't think we plan on hitting LP. It'll be a last resort if things aren't going for us at a couple other different spots... I have no desire to be there, honestly. Vintage bottle or not.

If you're trying other spots, you're too late to go to Binny's LP as a last resort. My basic way to describe it is that it's the best guarantee - both for getting a good haul of BCBS variants, and for sucking and taking a lot of time on Black Friday.

I'm in St. Louis for Turkey Day this year, but if I was in Chicago I'd be really torn. Last year it was 2 Prop, this year the guaranteed reserve that makes Binny's LP likely to be so much better than other places (but also so much sh*ttier than other places).

I didn't mean it that way. We're waiting on info for a couple other spots. If that info isn't to our liking, we'll likely end up at LP.

I thought I remember reading last year that people were circling back for 2nd allotments...

1000 full allotments is pretty sweet; if I were willing to buy that much BCBS (or spend that much time in line), I'd go.

Nope, they had way more than 1,000 people in line. We got there at 4:30 and were 800th in line (I estimate about 250 people cut through line confusion - we were probably about 550-600 when we got there). If you got there at 5:30 AM and waited it out you would have bought barleywine and regular. If you got there at 5PM on Thanksgiving and were toward the front, I guess you could have circled back to get barleywine and regular, but I don't know why someone who got there day before would do that.

Right. If they're in the front of the line, they're probably heading somewhere else to try and double-dip with another allotment. Smaller liquor store, grocery store, different Binny's, etc.

    Bless Brian R's heart:

    Gabriel Almeda
There is only six bottles of reserve allocated all Binnys allocation? What does that mean, or is that a typo?

    Brian R
Ah ok. Must've misread the post,

    Greg @ Binny's
Six bottles of reserve at all *other* Binny's locations, besides LP.

    Gabriel Almeda
How many cases of Vanilla Rye are there?

    Brian R
I'm confused. You said each store only has 6 bottles of Reserve at all locations. So, if there are 1000 allotments at Lincoln Park, you'll have to be in the 1st 6 to get a FULL allotment, right? The 994 will get an allotment WITHOUT reserve, right?

    Lakefront Brewing...

It would be better to ask this in the SE WI bottle hunt thread as you'll get some more experienced answers. Also depends if you're looking for variants. The state gets very little. BW and regular were never that hard to find but you had to camp out at Rays or win a lottery at Consumer Beverage for Reserve, Vanilla, so on and so forth. Someone in another thread, or maybe this one, said their distributor got 15 cases of Vanilla and Bramble. I'd bet good money the entire state of WI doesn't receive that much.

Different Binny's will have plenty of regular BCBS and Barleywine (Wheat Wine this year, I guess?) after the initial horde of locusts swarm through. Past few years I pop into Arlington Hts Binny's at like 10am and it's a breeze.

Similar to @Chuckdiesel24 I'll be out of town for Thanksgiving. If last year is the new normal then it should be really easy and convenient to get normal BCBS. So I don't even have to bother with Black Friday at all. Hopefully it's the same this year. I'll end up trying out variants at tap takeovers. Easy enough.

Yeah tons of normal grocery stores even get regular BCBS and barleywine.

I always just try the new variants at FOBAB.

    No need for lines.

So realistically this year....given all we know, what is a reasonable time one would need to line up at LP by to ensure wristband/ticket is received? 3 am? 4?

My other thought was they will have people in line passing out wristbands as people arrive right? So if you show up at a certain time and you don't get a wristband and/or they state there are no more, then simply turning back around and leaving is the answer. This would eliminate years past....waiting in line for hours and potentially not getting what you were hoping to. We will see how this whole thing plays out.
