That's far, far too simplistic, but I was simply responding to you "butt hurt" comment, like nobody who objects to the price of the bottle had done anything but whine. There were some well-thought out posts on the matter.

Anyways, this has become a lot like a Fox News program where all the participants are shouting at each other & nobody hears a word anyone else says. I think the price is ridiculous, but if I remember to try and grab a ticket (not a great chance), I'd trade the bottle for other bottles that are stupidly expensive on the stupid secondary market.

Always astonishing that this many pages deep into a discussion someone can jump in assuming that the point that everyone needs to read is the single most obvious one.

Did the Ford GT cause people to respond with exasperation and frustration and actively cause people to proclaim they wouldn't buy Ford?

If no, then it's not an analogous product.

Yes, clearly, that's how TG WANTS people to think about KBBS, and clearly for some percentage of the population it does indeed work that way, but for others it's creating friction. Trying to assess that impact is frankly everything to this discussion. If you choose to dismiss it, this is pretty simple, because you're ignoring the only negative impact to this decision.

It's fine that you don't think and TG obviously doesn't think that anyone SHOULD be upset about their decision to price KBBS at $100, or at least not very many people should, but this seems like an apparent miscalculation on their part and seems to ignore the reality that for many people it is. TG is obviously also run by someone who's response to criticism is to double down, not be introspective. Some people obviously are upset, which means there is some negative impact, but it won't be a negative impact that can be calculated by analyzing how fast KBBS sells out.

I mean, that's a whole lot of logical fallacy in one post, I'm impressed!

"The same people who are bitching about the price of KBBS apparently have nothing to say about any number of other beers that are overpriced compared to the cost it takes to produce them."

So first, this is probably incorrect, I would bet a great majority of the people upset about the price of KBBS are upset about overpriced beer in general.

Second, this doesn't logically follow. KBBS is a clear outlier in terms of cost. The rising price of, say, IPAs and pastry stouts may not be enough of an outlier to cause someone to be upset...because the rise in cost is itself a function of market demand. KBBS is a huge jump and the closest comp, Anchorage's ADWTD, engendered a similar response.

Third, whether or not someone is upset enough for your taste about a much lesser price discrepancy on some other product has no bearing on the potential validity of their position re: KBBS.

Most of the rest of your commentary is repeating of things everyone here knows, but it's worth addressing your cynical:

    "...it won't change a thing."

Yeah, it will. Or at least it might. People complaining, people changing their buying habits, people discussing it, that is precisely how change happens. Change happens all the time. Is Clark stubborn enough that the selling price of KBBS unlikely to change no matter what the backlash? Obviously, I don't think anyone is disputing that. There's clearly a huge market for KBBS even at $100. So what will change look like? Impact on TG's business somewhere much further down the road. Feedback here or directly to TG can help nudge people one way or the other, and provide TG an opportunity to peak into how some of their fans are responding to this decision.

That is capitalism and democracy both at their core. You can opt out of it and try to shout it down all you want, but your lack of participation amplifies the voices of everyone else who disagrees with you.

If you love TG's KBBS decision, let em know it. I'm sure they're grateful for your support.

And feel free to attempt to argue with people who disagree with you to change their minds. One popular tactic is to try and make people feel too powerless to impact anything, as you're doing. But you can do better.

No, it won't make a difference, because for every person who decides to make a stand, there are 50 people who are more than willing to pay whatever it takes to get the beers that TG produces.

This is not someone making a stand for human rights or democracy or what have you, it is frakin' beer. And if you think that someone anonymously bitching on a internet forum will make TG change the pricing structure of its most popular beer that sells out instantly, then you are smoking crack.

You can't be serious? I don't give a happy sh*t what you or anyone else does or thinks in relation to this beer, which I will never drink. My comments on this thread are arguing a point for the record, not to change people's mind.

Meanwhile, Clark is sitting on his golden toilet seat reading everyone debate his beer and thinking “fuckin minions.”

Is there any decision, about anything, that will not upset some people in some way? No matter the price, the release method, or the quantity; people are going to be pissed and complain, it's human nature. I don't really think TG cares about all of the butt hurt going on in this thread, a vast majority of their customers probably haven't even heard of KBBS.

We’re getting close to a breakthrough guys. I can feel it!

Everyone posting here should enter in a binding agreement to sell any allocation they receive of KBBS to the winner of a Dutch auction comprised of the undersigned.

I agree TG doesn’t much care.

All butt hurt is not created equal. “Everything upsets someone so no one should ever pay attention to any feedback of any kind ever” is...an interesting position to take, but go ahead with it.

If I drew a Venn diagram, I wonder about the size of the intersection set between those on various threads in this forum who complain about the aftermarket sellers getting money off the labor and skill of the brewer and those in this thread who complain about TG getting some of this potential money for themselves.

Are any of you in both sets (and will admit it)?

    Such a joke.

Do you hear that sound? Thats the sound of the aftermarket price sky rocketing. Maybe they can charge $200 next time around, because of it.
