I got BBA Expedition Stout last year and went to about 4 local shops to get it as it was tough to find and I live in Michigan. Bells is very sneaky sneaky when dropping this off.
I finally called a place that was releasing at noon next day so I showed up and no crowd. Cost me $10 for that bottle and could've gotten more but $10 was already enough spent. It was good but wouldn't pay $10 again just for a single.
Now regular Expedition I can get any time and funny thing last year as it's usually $16.99, well someone at the grocery store mispriced it and I got a 6pk for $10, not my fault someone screwed up, that's business.

I didn't think it was released last year

Yes it was around the summer I want to say but perhaps only got released in Michigan.

Yes, released in late May if I remember right. It was a silent release with very limited distribution. I can't speak on how far out it went but I'd imagine nearly all of it stayed in Michigan.

Was bottled last year on 6/2/2017. It was a limited distribution to Michigan only, and a limit of 2 4-packs at the GS. No announcement and it sold out in 4 hours. They did make a lot less last year.

    ABV - 2016 - 13.0%, 2017 - 12.8%, 2018 - 13.4%. This year's batch has been the best by far in my opinion.

Would like to try one...I love BA stouts. In all honesty though, Bells has never impressed me in the least.

If it's the whiskey barrel aged one, if you like whiskey, try it. If it's the 30th anniversary reserve, if you like cherry juice, try it. That's what they both amounted to me. Wanted more balance from each. But, that's me.

LMAO! I don't think you know what good beer is. What are your top rated BA Stouts?

With a comment like that one, I don't think anybody can take you seriously.

Vanilla Rye, FO B1 , BA Darkness , It Was All a Dream, Vietnamese Speedway are some of my tops. Black Note not even in the same ballpark.

Someone has a different opinion than you so they don't know what good beer is? Got it.

I'm in the camp of thinking Black Note is about average in terms of barrel ages stouts but I still can't wait to try BA Expedition.

I honestly see where he's coming from, though 3.25 is stingier than I would assign. I have no doubt Black Note was at the top of the game the first several years it was released, but the market has caught up to and passed it.

You are entitled to your opinion of course but I just wanted to point out that only one of the best you listed doesn't use adjuncts, BA darkness.

Black note definitely stands up there with the non adjunct BA stouts in my opinion. BCS, BA10/50 etc...

    If you don't like...no,love Black Note...you don't like beer.
And just because you rate something a 4.5 doesn't mean a 4.0 is bad...
