Haven't had one of those since high school, about 50 years ago. We used to call it "Joe Schittz".

So did they (well, a bit more formal & abbreviated).

The first and last time I ever drank a Schlitz was due to a fraternity hazing activity my pledge class had to suffer through.

The beers weren't just piss warm, they were actually heated from sitting next to a fire pit. Our objective was to just chug them as fast as we could. I got the entire thing down and was the next to last guy to puke, so that's...something.

My dad went through a Schlitz phase for a while in the 70's. Haven't seen one up here. I need that tick!

Of the off cans I also got a distinct garlic hint which resulted in the drain pours. Love garlic in my spaghetti but nascar easy drinking beer not so much.

I reckon that the Gusto was very good.

When I was visiting Ray in Tacoma, I hit up on a few Rainers. It's better than most AALs, they are what they, are refreshing uncomplicated beers that go good sucking it down in 3 pulls on a hot day. I also found 3 Magnets beers to be pretty damn good too.

Last time I had Schlitz it was pretty garbage even compared to pbr or old style. And I didn't have high expectations

I'll generally grab either Chuckanut's Kolsch or Pils for quick slamming purposes.

I didn't read all the posts just addressing the op's message.Schlitz was my go to cheaper beer for some time, then my local store stopped carrying it. Not long afterwards I found another store that had it,bought a sixer and they tasted really off, like it had some oxidation issue so I stopped buying it.

I had a 12 pack of bottles a couple months back and found it good. Tasted like regular beer. I enjoyed them. Nothing off for me. Could yours have been old? Still not sure though if this is that 60's classic recipe or if they scrapped that.

Back in '13-'14, this is what Pabst replied when questioned why the labels no longer said "60s Formula":

But, as with anything Pabst does, doesn't mean it the Schlitz recipe hasn't been "tweaked" since .

One could ask themselves "Why would they?" but then you'd have to ponder "Why did they _____?" [fill in the blank with any of a number of bone-headed moves].

Looks like this is Pabst's current direction:

I just have to do it:

Girls who drink beer on the beach get sand in their Schlitz.

40oz Blue and Red Bull Schlitz was my $0.99 go to in college for cheap inebriation. Sorry to hear the quality is suspect...

    Me too.

Back in the day, I drank all kinds of macro, adjunct lager crap (as that was pretty much all that was available). Some things I liked more than others, often times depending on my mood or the occasion. Have a lot of good memories from those times, but for some reason I never seem to have a nostalgic craving for the bull, Micky's, old Milwaukee, Lucky, bud, miller or any of that crap.

In the early 70s I ran a bar that was next to UNC-G and it was a fine watering hole. Bud and Miller longnecks and Blatz draft. Also Gablingers for those on a diet. We decided to put in Beck's Dark in bottles. It took off and we sold about 8 cases a week. Lots of people had never tasted such rich pure malt..It was an education for me. I learned about brand-building from that response to a chance taken to sell something different, that really worked. This lesson informed my career.
