I consider myself to be quite fortunate to have been your target - I'm still amazed by all of the amazing beer (and mead). I really like those eye-opening packages from parts of the country where you haven't even heard of the breweries and the beers you receive. Also still loving the shirt, though it's starting to fit a little too tight!

    Thanks again, John!

I'm in favor - this still seems pretty minimal and reasonable.

This is really disappointing. It sucks for senders to see their boxes just disappear in to the void. It's pretty fucking inconsiderate for anyone to be doing like this.

I’ve only been in 2 of these, but wouldn’t it be better to have a smaller group that all participate, versus a bigger group where 10% are disappointing targets/senders? I’ve only had good senders and targets so far, so maybe I’m due for a let down.

Well on a happier note...I enjoyed this for breakfast. Thanks @superspak !!!

    look: 4.25 | smell: 4.75 | taste: 4.25 | feel: 4.25 | overall: 4.25

Pours a profoundly dark roil of brown. Firm pour pushes a confident mocha cap 2+ fingers high. Solid retention. Slowly retreats to a damn respectable, "I'm staying here!" half an inch, milky head.
Straight up glory in the nose. Good Morning, French toast! Maple syrup hitting crispy edged, slightly caramelized, cinnamon-heavy battered French toast. A light hint of vanilla, some cocoa notes, caramel and the smoothest roast, all waft from the glass. Rarely have I beheld such a spot on aroma, that was also soon tempting.
Taste follows faithfully. Although, I dare say it's damn near impossible to follow that nose. The cinnamon is present but tame. The maple definitely stays along for the whole ride, but is not cloying. Hints of vanilla come through and tame the roast notes that peek in just a tad. Sweet notes that make an appearance in the background of the maple syrup are caramel, toffee, and dark chocolate. The vanilla comes through at the end as well, almost gives it a drying out note, in the direction of metallic.
Mouthfeel is full and creamy. Very subtle, almost absent alcohol heat adds a nice extra. Carbonation is light.
Overall, I would love this on a regular basis. Here is where I am reticent to make any suggestions on such a fine beer. But, I love the nose almost as much as my kids, and if the flavor could follow just a tad more faithfully with lighter vanilla I MIGHT like it a smidge more. Having said that (humbly), I LOVE this one.

While this isn't a bad idea, I think becoming exclusive would also prevent bringing in new, positive contributors to the group, as well as preventing disappointment. If there was ever to be a more special "giving" type of round, where nice things were being slung around, then I'd say you could go exclusive; maybe do a single box for Xmas secret Santa kinda thing.
I lean towards the "bring-a-friend" sponsoring of adding new people each round to fulfill a participation requirement towards NBS and H&H. Sponsors can look out for their rookie to make sure requirements are being met since they sponsored them in.

Only 2? Really? Color me surprised!

    @beertunes
Anyway, I agree with the concept that a smaller BIF with greater participation is better than a larger BIF with spotty participation - even if that means repeat senders/targets. Hell, between trades, ninjas, and this BIF, I've had plenty of repeat violations by now; who cares?!? :grinning:

I don't think making a high post/week in the thread is a great idea, though. Keeping it low is more realistic. And if you have a minimum number of hints specifically, and a minimum number of posts per week (not necessarily the same thing), I think you'll get the desired effect.

So I'm going to continue recommending something along the lines of:
    -2 posts per week
    -5 hints minimum
-Continuing hints until your target guesses your identity (say at least 1 per week?)
    -ALL Hauls

With the caveat that I don't really care that much (I've had some shitty targets and still manage to enjoy the BIF), I think if the goal is bringing new people into the joys of NBS, the "bring a friend," "mentor," "sponsor" thing may be the way to go.

The whole "mandatory fun" thing strikes the wrong note to me, but again, I'll have fun whatever way we go.

My sincere apologies. I will finally get all the package that was sent by @SammyJaxxxx. I appreciate the boxes you sent, I am thankful for the food and beer. The pork roll is a really tasty food. I have drunk a few of these beer, I have enjoyed the Kane brewing beers.

    Awesome! Thanks, jhavs.

    NEW LIF:
How many total ounces of beer will be consumed at Saturday’s share? (No pre-gaming, after parties, take-home beverages, virtual participation, etc. Beer tasted at the share only.). Winner must beat @Roguer’s guess by at least two ounces. Entries due by noon Eastern on Saturday. I’ll track people's guesses, and will ask @CanConPhilly to total up the beer consumed as he’s a math professional and, as a Canadian, likely understands the metric system.
