It's the instarone generation, sadly if its not rare, brewery only, and hyped beyond belief its not good. Partly makes me happy cause it is easier to find some of the great classics like black note.

Had someone get really pissed at me and storm off because of a similar statement I said to them. It's absolutely hilarious!

I agree with this assessment. 30th Anniversary Reserve was a too sweet and syrupy for me. Very disappointing. Whiskey Barrel Aged Cherry Stout was very good in my opinion. It had a slightly tart finish that balanced everything out nicely.

Black Note one of the best. Very complex.

I get what you're saying, but perhaps, at face value, he just likes these beers better?

Agreed, same camp. I've got a 2016 I decided to age because it wasn't up to par with what I was expecting. It was the only vintage I bought. Good, yes. Great, not so much. From what I remember it was kinda empty to start and then at the tail end a bunch of flavor kicked in but it was fleeting and quick, then it was over. I know I rated it less than 4 but probably not much less.

That being said Bell's does make some good beers and I'm looking forward to trying the BA Expy.

    See, this is just ignorance.

Stuff like this has no place in a beer community. Not unless the particular beer community spoken of was infected with elitist attitudes.

No, it's just better beer. You are one of the Bells fanboys I see. You stated that I don't know what good beer is. I certainly do, and this Bells aint it.

I hope my distributor get's some this year. Regular is world class, curious to see what some time in a barrel would do.

Well, we can all agree that the Bell's in North Carolina that @BiddzzBA doesn't buy, @DISKORD will.

Looks like we can all be happy.

I wrote that post with a smile on my face...like we're buds sitting at a bar and you said 'I don't like Black Note'...I would give you a hard time about it...no 'elitist' here;I'm probably more 'hippie' than you. Problem with forums-someone always takes you too seriously.....

You likely are very much more hippie than I.

Dude my apologies, I should have noticed the smile on your face when you posted. I'll look closer next time!

I can't wait for Friday night when I crack one of my bottles open and perhaps do a 3 year vert. Right now I'm in one of these beer group weight loss challenges with no hope to win but want to go out strong!

The difference is, I used punctuation and enthusiasm, you used an emoticon.

This guy expected me to read the tone of his post with none of that and then got his knickers in a twist when I didn't read his mind correctly.

So I guess here's my attitude to that guy so nobody gets confused :

Going to be in New Buffalo for an overnighter with the fiance on Saturday into Sunday. Anyone know of somewhere I could slip away and grab a bottle or two to bring back home?

Saw a couple of these at my store in GA so they are obviously making their way through distro. They were being sold as $10 singles and could only justify buying one at the price point. I have heard these are really boozy and honestly I prefer my BA stouts with some barrel character and not like someone mixed them with a shot of bourbon. I'm probably going to drink it this weekend but I am sure it will be delicious.
