Got a response from PW on The Last Kiss. They're not tasting any flavors with the beer, but asked me to bring the beer to the Dojo for reimbursement. That is great customer service and I hope to be able to chat more about why my bottle tasted weird.

Ah, okay. Yea, the murderous was in my mind one batch since the base BA beer was finished in brandy and port barrels - seems the infection touched all so it wasn't isolated to either of the finishing barrels.

As for Last Kiss, I'm curious what will happen with that. My buddy opened one this weekend and he said that it was super fizzy, but tasted fine.

As for the cats and their relationship to the infection its some interesting conjecture. Something I hadn't thought of.

Hey Everyone, I’m Mike and I oversee all of the barrel aging at Pipeworks. I want to start off by saying we appreciate your feedback in forums like this and across social media. We pay attention to all of these channels and when anyone describes an experience with our beers that is less than satisfactory we take it very seriously.

Upon seeing reports of a less than satisfactory experience with a bottle of Last Kiss we put multiple of our control bottles through QC evaluations this morning. The pH, gravity and carbonation levels in our control bottles is nearly identical to packaging and well within the normal range for Last Kiss, indicating that there are no beer spoilage organisms present nor active in the beer. Additionally, we put samples from multiple bottles through sensory evaluations and could find no discernable off flavors, in fact we found the samples we tested to be exemplary versions of what we are trying to create when we brew, blend and package Last Kiss.

Based on both the QC numbers and sensory evaluation we have no reason to believe that any other bottles of Last Kiss will have the same issues Mr. Bbear reported. Again, we appreciate how much you guys care about the quality of our beer and the feedback when you feel it hasn’t lived up to your expectations.

I'm more stoked on the smoked helles, but the Ninja series coming to cans is awesome indeed.

Happy about Citra in cans, hope that trend continues for all of the DIPAs. But I'm just happy that Pilsner and Infinite Galaxy keep coming back.

Don't know if this is common knowledge or what but, the Trader Joes I went too today let's you grab one of everything and charges you 1/4 per can. So you don't need to buy a 4 pack just to try one beer

There is one point/source of a beer spoiler that we have isolated that subsequently got blended into different versions of the same beer (all variations of Murderous). Last Kiss was not part of that blend. We have a seriously clean brewery and the cats are not in any way a potentional source of that beer spoiler. We’re investigating Last Kiss now but seems like the reported bottle is an isolated incidence at this point. I’ll keep you posted.

Cats have nothing to do with infections. There are more than a handful of breweries around the country that house brew kitties

If anything, these cats ward off little varmints looking to sneak in and survive off all of the grain stores in breweries.
