I got a growler of the original (I never had another batch) and I thought it was delicious. It had a danky butternut squash taste that was perfect for the Fall. I never thought I would like that in a beer but I thought it was different and delicious.

I'm seeing Money on tap in Central Jersey btw. Guess they are starting to distribute wider.

Anyone have tasting notes on the Capt Lawrence collab? Typical Barrier?

Just got a 4 pack and cracked one. It’s very good. Got the typical east coast ipa malt profile with a west coast hop touch due to the older school hop varities. The typical barrier yeast profile is a bit muted here so it tastes a little more like a captain lawrence beer than a barrier beer.

On another note, the No Can Defend pilsner is pretty damn good. Also, the experimental beer for this week (mixed fermentation ale) was stellar. I cant wait for their experimental beers to see cans/bottles in the future.

Hopefully it hits distro because I can’t make it to the brewery anytime soon.

^This. After reading multiple posts here tinged with longing for this beer, and reading some reviews, and Barrier's IG post, I've developed a strong need to try it myself. I'm not a pumpkin beer guy, but this sounds different enough that I might like it.

I’ve only had one batch, and I’m guessing it was the first, but it literally tasted like butternut squash. There was little pumpkin taste, just this vegetal, herbal hoppiness with that squash finish. I had a growler of it when Hoptron first opened up. It was such an unique taste.

This batch of SaazSquatch is unique and seriously awesome! Tastes like butternut squash and peppercorn - exactly what they are going for.

The people working the tap room weren’t sure. It depends on initial sales I guess.

I can grab you a 4 pack. I drive all over the Island for work.

Was it too sweet? Last batch was sticky sweet and really off putting. If not I might grab a 4 pack. It’s a really nice alternative if you are sick of pumpkin beers.

SaazSquash is a good beer. It’s not the butternut squash bomb the first batch was, and not quite as herbal and vegetal, but the flavors are all at work here. Nice, subtle honey on the finish. Not sweet at all, just kinda organically there. Happy to get a 4.
